Another NooB TSP Trader saying: Hello!

Greetings Everyone

My story: 20+ years federal service. Spent the 90s too conservatively invested in the G fund. Diversified into the C & F funds just in time to be floored by the "Dot Com" bust. Then finally gave the L20 fund a chance in August 2008 which finished me off. So here I find myself 2/3 of my way through my career with 1/3 of what I'm told I need to retire.

Investing is all new too me. I've never been interested in it and just followed what I was advised to do. That obviously hasn't worked, so I've struck out on my own even though I don't know what I'm doing. I managed to do pretty good last year, I think, (26.76%) just by reading the TSP Talk "Market Comments" & weekly wrap up. Maybe last year was just generally a good year. I don't know. I'm reviewing last years IFTs now to see what I did right and what I did wrong. It's a learning experience.

Anyways, just want to say hi.

Naa -- I've just been rolled over so many times that now I look like 2 or 3 cactii. It comes from leaving pieces of myself on the path along the way. :cheesy:

Good one, nnuut! I'm glad we have a sense of humor around here. Given the fickleness of the market sometimes I think we need it.

Good recomendation, Frixxxx. I started "catchup" contributions last year and am continuing it this year. I figure it gives me a double dose of help. It increases my retirement savings and it gets me used to living on less.

This has to be one of the Greatest Testimonies to this SITE and I really appreciate your down to earth - humble - sincereity.

For most Last Year -- was Not Good -- and 26.76% is like turning the Sun to be Black and make it stop shining -- it is very hugly impressive.
