Re: 350Z's I Fund Thread-Feb07

The market is over-bought on a short term basis (day traders). If anything, we might see a -FV.

I agree with you. Everything I look at is telling it's coming! It should have been today but it got delayed, so maybe it will come this afternoon or tomorrow.:)

Imo, The I fund looks good for tomorrow

based on the CAC,DAX,NIKKEI,and FTSE,all closing red. Also, the dollar is up today against major currencies. We should have a deadcat bounce. The wild card is the BOJ . Just my 2 cents.

Yup, the BOJ is the key for tomorrow. If they hold, it will be a big up day tomorrow. But as Milkman said, the markets are overbought and the risk is to the downside. I don't mind missing a rally or two because a loss will always set you back.

That SIRI/XMSR sparked the small

caps.today. The I fund is still lagging behind the S. I have a feeling we shall have a very nice overseas rally tonight. gl to all

Still no numbers yet. I guess they want to get it right the first time. Unlike the last holiday snafu.....

Re: 350Z's I Fund Thread-Feb07

Japan raises interest rates for only the second time in seven years.

Nikkei falls 82 points within 5 minutes of the annoucement.

Long time lurker first time poster. Thanks for the great advise, insight etc etc. I also bailed on the I fund and left some money on the table. The market is never wrong but I think it should have pulled back some. Anyway GL all and thanks for the Great Posts.

I was expecting more of a reaction from both the Nikkei and USD/YEN but I'm not seeing it yet. I wonder if their statement had a cautious/dovish tone to it.

Correction: It has not been formally announced yet. It was just a proposal by one of the bank governors.

Btw, the Nikkei is showing some major volatility right now.

What an interesting twist. I had heard on Bloomberg it was a done deal inside the meeting, and was about to be announced in a few minutes, and the Nikkei took the nosedive.

Now they say, not so fast, we're still thinking about it, and the market recovers some of that loss.

Is this a Japanese cultural way to raise the rate?

It certainly is interesting....

OK folks-- pay attention. This is your YEN learning point for the day.

Someday you'll use this information about how Japan makes a rate move, a little way at a time, and you'll figure out how to profit from it.

IMO, the BOJ is very much controlled by the Government. Maybe more so than our FOMC. Not only do they have to worry about their own economy, they have consider the impact of the hike on Yen carry trades. I believe the hike is a done deal, but I would expect the tone to be very cautious on future hikes.

Well, it's a done deal. They hiked it .25%, but they must have been very dovish because the Nikkei 300 is up and the dollar is up. The Yen carry trades will live on, for now.

I find this very interesting...

Re: 350Z's I Fund Thread-Feb07

Nikkei didn't mind it very much. After some big swings, it ended up just a hair down for the day.

The vote for the Japanese rate hike was 8 to 1.

Other overseas markets are mixed this morning. CAC and DAX up, FSTE down. Dollar just a little off yesterday. I'd say about neutral at this point overall, to down a penny or two.

We'll see later this morning where we end up.
