This market does need an up-day (triple digit or not), considering how much trouble still lies ahead. Be nice if the +fv put the I-fund into positive territory for the day...

Come on gang, I took crap from alot of people today about this market going green. Look now baby!! The triple digit gain is a ?

Hey 12%,

I will be the first to say congradulations!!! :D

Very nice call and yes I do know these markets are hard to call right.

We needed to see what we saw today. Lot's of strength. I'm lovin this.

This will put me in buy mode.

Like I said OSMs will explode tonight!! Anyone have the +fv amount for tonight?

Just based on the DJIA, I'm guessing about $.34, placing the day change at around -$.05 for the I-fund. Don't have the EFA values at the bell yet...

Edit: could be a bit lower at the end, but that's the ballpark I have on my spreadsheet.

Green!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow...glad you put some Windex on that Crystal Ball of yours.

Nice Call...Nice Rally...

I'm locked in to the I for Friday...(not by choice) I wasn't near a puter hope it works out.

Buda

Think about this. Many big banks will love to buy all these cheap financials for short money. Buffett is buying. Tech. was the true innocent bystander in all this. OSMs have plenty of money to put to work after seeing 10% loses in days.

All true...I think a lot depends on what news comes out in the next day or two, though.

Edit: the DJIA seems to have closed at about -15.7 for the day. If Barclay's uses that index, I get about +$.31 fv for the day, or a total loss of about $.08 for the I-fund.

Not bad, considering the loss at 11:30 was about $.40 or so.

lol, see HPE afterhours....blowout numbers;)

Well, that was interesting. Good call, 12%. HP's got some very nice numbers :)

Tomorrow will probably be just as wild a ride.

EDIT: Wow, if EFA finishes about where I show it to be, and Barclay's uses EFA, the I-fund will finish about flat for the day.

EFA +fv around $.37.

If I'm terribly off in an of these predictions, please let me know. I'm working with modifications to ChemEng's spreadsheet.

Looks good to me. It could be any number between 30 and 40. We need 39 to break even. Actually, if Barclays adds some emotional momentum to the number, it might be a bit more.

Edit: Oh... forgot to say thanks to all of you who did the +FV dance!!!

Citigroup Inc., the biggest U.S. bank by assets, may lose as much as $3 billion (U.S.) in the third quarter because of the credit crisis, according to analysts at Sanford Bernstein & Co. LLC.
The New York-based company may lose between $1.2 billion and $1.5 billion on loans to buyout firms and between $500 million and $1 billion on subprime mortgages in the three months ending Sept. 30, Bernstein analysts Howard Mason and Michael Howard said yesterday in a note to clients.
Citigroup already may have taken an unreported $200 million to $300 million markdown for leveraged loans in the second quarter, the analysts said. The average extra-risk premium, or spread, on loans to buyout firms buying companies with debt rose about 300 basis points in July, the analysts wrote.
The analysts rate Citigroup "outperform" and have a price estimate of $65 per share.
