So, what happened around noon that caused that rout? Market volatility indices went through the roof, and the Lehman agg bond index shot up like a rocket in less than 45 minutes.
Not that the market needs much reason to go nuts these days, but I'm just curious if anything was announced then. Or was it just panic?
There was a rumor of an emergency fed meeting.
The media is trying to goad the Fed into a cut. Bernake knows he can not afford to look weak, so the more they push the less likely it is to happen - the market will figure that out in the next few trading hours.

Just put 50/50 I and S and come back Dec.31. The bet is that we will close higher than where we are right now. Shut the computer off and come back before the XMAS. It is very hard to trade these markets because if you panic and sideline, you might miss some major pops and kick yourself in the butt.
I strongly disagree. Before this is over, we're going to have a big mortgage lender(CFC?), major bank, and some home builders go bankrupt. IMHO, this is far from over. I believe we are going to be in a Bear market.:worried:

You have to ask yourself this question. Where do you think the market(DJIA) will be by eoy? We might see another 500 drop to 12000, but I see new highs before the end of the year. So, if you did nothing and left it in the S and I with all the drops you will a 12% return IF we hit 14k. IMHO.I strongly disagree.
