Your costume for the March to Keep Fear Alive

I love the whole idea of the march, both as a response to recent marches and as much welcome comic satire.

If I could join in the March to Keep Fear Alive I would wear comfortable clothes and carry three books: Sarah Palin's "America By Heart", and "Broke" and "Arguing with Idiots", both by Glenn Beck. That should do it! ;)

Oh how cute, an attempt to mock the very issues that threaten to crack the foundation that holds this country together. Sounds pretty typical, make fun of that which you don't agree with... :suspicious:

I think I'll dress up as an Azzhat, that should about cover both sides.
 
But J, this march is the brain child of Stephen Colbert. It is parody and satire. It is humor. It is supposed to be a lighthearted moment to take time out from the stress of our lives and laugh.

Please laugh with us ... ? :o

Sure it is, and perhaps I'm not imagining it's a back-door attempt to desensitize us from the very real attempt to socialize this nation. It's a way to tie into and make fun of the neocons Fears/Smears/Queers campain that was so successful for W. Bush. Notice the Gay issue is comming up again for the military? Yea they want to shut down and keep the conservatives from rallying their base again.

Oh and I've lost track of how many times I've seen hollywood make a southern boy look like a gun-toting, seal-clubbing, Bambie-killing ignorant environmental hazard of a bastard.

Sure laughter is fun, but it's also stupid and nobody wants to be seen as stupid or funny if they are trying to be taken seriously.

You mean in like "Deliverance." I'm a born again north Florida cracker and proud of it. I have a nicely ironed white robe in my closet - I could wear it.

In all honesty...Your concerns are valid..but I think in this case, this is an all out fun thing..laugh at yourself and relax kinda deal...Sometimes we need to take a deep breath and say screw it, let it all hang out (like Birch):D ..So here's your sign...:D

The Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear.

What a wonderful party. Not always hilarious but entertaining. A wonderful way to spend 3 hours.

Final messages:

We can find common ground and can/are fixing the problems.
It's the 24/7 fearanator/conflictornator cable news pundits that are at fault for the sentiment in this country.
We are working to solve our problems just like we work together to get through the tunnels under rivers - reasonably.
The only things that are broken are the 24/7 fear pundits on cable news and congress who are always fearful that they will loss their power by being voted out (ie. special interest swing).
Tolerance is good.

I feel happy and hopeful. Who will continue business as usual? Give it your best shot :D

I snipped a bunch of the quote out. To fit in with my story.

I have been researching family and reading town histories going back to the early 1700s. Many of the towns have rivers as their borders. Everyone saw the need for bridges. No one ever could agree on who should pay for what percentage of the bridges. They eventually got built, sometimes by private individuals. Most were never maintained due to the same arguments. They eventually failed and a new one would be built. Usually to be let deteriorate to the point of failure. Nothing really changed until the 1960s.

Point-for over 300 years no one has been able to agree on anything and the bottom line was always money. Why will this ever change?

If it was only for humor, then it would not have become decidedly political. These two are in danger of taking themselves too seriously and ending up like Bill Maher.
