I'd catch that falling knife and get in on a Sep trade instead of wasting an October one. I think you'd want to get out early in October and maybe enter back in later in the month. Given my track record you may want to look at this with a contrarian viewpoint.

Dead Cat Bounce. There are times when a day after a big down day you will get some if not all of it back the next day due to buying, however today may not end up down as big as it initially looked and we could continue just continue trickling down to fill in some gaps.

There are far more knowledgable folks on here on the subject.

So now that, for a few months, the debt/credit/budget/money debacle is behind us can Washington please get back to work.

And more importantly, where does the market go from here?

Friend, blue skies are clearing for a resumption of the bull market - head long into virgin uncharted terriorty. Any move higher could be quite aggressive. There may be very little time for hesitation points like today. Waiting to buy pull backs may not turn out to be the right play. Most consolidations may be done on an intraday basis. With the current spring loaded with the internals, we could easily see a run-a-way market to the upside now - especially as more and more trend lines are violated. I've known for the last couple of months that the underlying tone of the market was bullish.

As I walked out to the truck this morning it was a brisk 40 degrees. Finally the weather is cool enough to maybe get in a bit of deer hunting this weekend. Just happens to be Muzzleloader weekend. nice.
