wine help?

My current favorite red is Chateau Lanessan 2010 , a nice French wine a little strong but worth it. At this time of posting I am drinking a Russian River Pliny the Elder hard to get, but supposedly worth it.:1244:

Had the 2010 Lanessan with Collette steak tonight. Poured thru decanter...very ripe and "fat" with high Alc content for French wine (14%).
British call those ultra ripe Bordeaux's "Fat Bastards" and that's what this was right off the pouring. Very ripe, full bodied but fairly one-dimensional. However, after wafting and decanting in the glass for an hour, some nice complexities of cigar box and spice started coming thru in between the ripe fruit.

Definitely a wine to decant for an hour before drinking. It was a very nice wine, and I'm glad your post tempted me to try it.

Now you'll have to try the 2010 La Vielle Cure from Fronsac and let me know what you think.:cheesy:

Chateau Montelena Chardonnay. I treat myself to this one 2 - 3 times a year...

http://www.wine-searcher.com/find/montelena+chard+napa+valley+county+north+coast+california+usa

It's about $47 a bottle in my area but I see on the above page it's cheaper in other states.

If you've ever seen the movie "Bottle Shock" it's based on the wine tasting contests in the 70's in France where California's Chateau Montelena wines surprised folks by winning some of the major categories and it put California wines on the map.

Another nice Chardonnay in the $10 range that I drink more often is Alamos from Argentina. They also have a nice Torrentes.

They don't allow wines from outside Utah to be mailed into the state so I miss out on a lot good deals. Anyone ever use http://wine.woot.com ?

I drink reds too, nnuut... :D ... :poke:
I only drink Reds, white wine is for sissies!View attachment 33561View attachment 33560

In my search for my favorite Chateau Lanessan 2010 I came across some reviews of the 2015 year and its as good or better , so I grabbed a case,,,

I have invested too much money into wine over the last five years. Its shipping season right now and I think I have about 5 cases from various Napa wineries en route.

Anybody interested in high end 100 point Robert parker wines? I can provide a short list and some pricing to people with real interest but these are not cheap.

I'm not sure I can afford (as a luxury) 100 point wine, and I don't have a good place to store for investment, but if you have a list made up already I wouldn't mind perusing if you don't mind PM'ing. You never know. Thanks.

I've wondered about stocking up since parts of Sonoma were destroyed. I assume many have thought of this already and prices are rising?

OPUS ONE!
I had 2005 and 2007 to celebrate my college graduation.

100 point wine, lay the list on me!

Opus is AWESOME!

One Napa wine that might be a tiny bit better and usually a tiny bit cheaper (lol lke the difference between $200 and $150).

Dominus.
Just like Opus, its a collaboration between famous French and Napa Winemakers. Dominus's co-founder, Christian Moueix also makes arguably the best (and priciest) wine in the world, a Merlot, with some Cab Franc, from France, called Petrus.

Not much into wine. It tends to give me a headache.

Now a couple of Yuengling's and I'm good. And a lot less expensive per bottle.

Wow!!! It's against my religion to pay more than $25 for a bottle!! It's OLD GRAPE JUICE For heavens sake.

Let’s hope, not yet. Actually the wines I have are 2012-2014. The prices they bring really are due to Robert Parker scores. Well, plus they really are very nice wines. I love great Napa Cabs.

its hard for me to open anything over $200. I look at my meal and my drink and realize I’ve got $50 in my glass and $10 on the plate.
