Will the U.S. financially fail?

Often, I find myself asking this question. Currently, I believe it will. The 2 party's and their followers are like oil and water; and will never be able to keep this nation afloat and never be able to agree on the basics of government. Bottom line, we spend more than we earn. China and other governments are doing us no favors by loaning us money. When they stop, it will get bad around here.

Half the country wants entitlement programs, the other half doesn't.
Half the country wants legal abortions, the other half doesn't.
Half the country wants no border limitations, the other half wants firm border security.
Half the country more government, the other half wants less government.

Oil and Water.

If the Dem's were oil and the Rep's were water; and we divide the country in half (into 2 countries) placing all Rep's in the East and all Dem's in the west, which country would fail?
