I think it's interesting how some people here (who work for, and gladly draw a paycheck from, "the Government") talk about how the Government is corrupt and lies to us all. What the flock does that make you (besides a hypocrit)? I'd love to tell you what you are but I enjoy coming here to read the actual insights on investing in the TSP. As far as I'm concerned anyone that leaks and/or reports classified information when we are at war with anybody, including terrorists, should be considered an enemy of this country and delt with appropriately. If it were up to me they'd simply be executed here in the states and if they were in another country they'd quietly disappear. Unfortunately that won't happen but if people that live here don't like the way this country is run they always have the option of moving to a better place like mexico or greece or the mideast. No one is holding a gun to your head to live here.
When I make statements about government corruption and lying, I'm usually referring to the elected leadership and their cronies...although we must admit there are occasions when a line dog gets popped accepting bribes, or sexual favors, in exchange for some type of government action/inaction.
For example, the District Court Judge that enjoined part of SB 1070, cited an issue raised by the plaintiff (presumably an attorney with DOJ) regarding the inability of aliens in the U.S. from a "Visa Waiver Participating" Country being able to prove that they are in the U.S. legally because they are not provided a visa. This is a bold face lie and the attorney that made that statement should either be disbarred or prosecuted for purjury and/or obstruction of justice.
It is true that visitors from a Visa Waiver Program Country is not issued a visa, however they are required to present a valid and properly issued passport. They must also fill out a special form for visa waiver program visitors, which is reviewed by an immigration officer, and stamped with the date of entry and the period the visitor is allowed to remain in the U.S. It does not allow a visa waiver program visitor to work in the U.S.
That form is supposed to be in the passport and on the person of the alien at all times. If asked for it by an immigration officer or other law enforcement officer, the alien is required to present the passport and I-94 form. If they don't, they are out of status and are immediately removable. They don't even get to see an immigration judge. ICE fills out a form, makes sure the alien has a passport or travel document issued by their government, arranges for their removal, and sends them on their way.
I believe the misrepresentation of this program by the DOJ attorneys was deliberate and should be investigated by Congress. I also think the administration reached out to the Judge and made her an offer she couldn't refuse. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets a circuit court appointment, or heaven forbid a supreme court appointment, if the opportunity presents itself during this administration's tenure.
