I quit the government. Basically told them to stick where the sun don't shine...............I'll take my retirement money and invest it when and where I want. Not getting a pension anymore, why put up with the BS? Did leave some in TSP just because of cheap fees............

Now I"m working at a golf course for less than one fourth what I made with the government. And loving it!!!!!

So there!!!!!!!!!!! :p Now, what does that make me?

"Anything is possible -- but we reject certain alternatives without a second thought. We’ve convinced ourselves -- or social conditioning has convinced us -- that rejecting these options is necessary or proper.
Examples: An unemployed office worker might automatically reject a blue-collar job... a retiree might automatically decide he’s too old to go on a backpacking trip in the mountains.
We need to dislodge our negative beliefs if we wish to weigh all of our options, overcome the power of "no" and elevate our lives to a higher level."

You rock Intrepid. I wish I had half the guts it took you to quit the gov't. I ate their **** for 30 years. I don't hate myself but I have to talk myself out of it all the time. Our gov't is rotten. We are misguided by another gov't located on a sliver of land half a world away. The good thing is that we'er all catching on. HA HA.

I think it's interesting how some people here (who work for, and gladly draw a paycheck from, "the Government") talk about how the Government is corrupt and lies to us all. What the flock does that make you (besides a hypocrit)? I'd love to tell you what you are but I enjoy coming here to read the actual insights on investing in the TSP. As far as I'm concerned anyone that leaks and/or reports classified information when we are at war with anybody, including terrorists, should be considered an enemy of this country and delt with appropriately. If it were up to me they'd simply be executed here in the states and if they were in another country they'd quietly disappear. Unfortunately that won't happen but if people that live here don't like the way this country is run they always have the option of moving to a better place like mexico or greece or the mideast. No one is holding a gun to your head to live here.

Hehe. If it were so easy huh wally? You should ask yourself what being an American means to you personally. From what your saying, we should blindly follow our leaders no matter where they lead us as a people. I believe that is a foolish mans mindset. I believe as an american, born in the country raised on guns and wild game on a farm, we should stand up for what is RIGHT, stand up for the little man, the downtrodden and the poor, and you know what, if the leaders of this country have ran afoul of the law or have lead my fellow americans down the wrong path, as "American", it is THE "American" thing to do, to stand up and question it! So wally ask yourself, what should you stand up for? what is right? or just stand by the side of your leaders no matter where they take you right or wrong. I choose to stand for what is RIGHT and question if the decisions they make are the right ones, and if they are NOT!?!?! Kick their asses out of office with a check mark! No disrepect wally, just sayin...think about it! ;)

It's the liberty of Americans to criticize our government, and in fact our duty. Now I will not do so here as I did take an oath, but here's my plan for the future: serve my 4 years military, do a few years for the government making figures 99% of 23 year olds don't make, hope this investing thing works out and I'm pretty set by 30-35. Buy a bunch of firearms to exercise that 2nd amendment (which holds more importance for DOMESTIC enemies of the Constitution), and live the American dream.

The gov provides me with so many opportunities...but then again, he's like the rich Uncle who likes to mentor you and buy you stuff, but he's a ruthless d#*+ of a businessman.

When I make statements about government corruption and lying, I'm usually referring to the elected leadership and their cronies...although we must admit there are occasions when a line dog gets popped accepting bribes, or sexual favors, in exchange for some type of government action/inaction.

For example, the District Court Judge that enjoined part of SB 1070, cited an issue raised by the plaintiff (presumably an attorney with DOJ) regarding the inability of aliens in the U.S. from a "Visa Waiver Participating" Country being able to prove that they are in the U.S. legally because they are not provided a visa. This is a bold face lie and the attorney that made that statement should either be disbarred or prosecuted for purjury and/or obstruction of justice.

It is true that visitors from a Visa Waiver Program Country is not issued a visa, however they are required to present a valid and properly issued passport. They must also fill out a special form for visa waiver program visitors, which is reviewed by an immigration officer, and stamped with the date of entry and the period the visitor is allowed to remain in the U.S. It does not allow a visa waiver program visitor to work in the U.S.

That form is supposed to be in the passport and on the person of the alien at all times. If asked for it by an immigration officer or other law enforcement officer, the alien is required to present the passport and I-94 form. If they don't, they are out of status and are immediately removable. They don't even get to see an immigration judge. ICE fills out a form, makes sure the alien has a passport or travel document issued by their government, arranges for their removal, and sends them on their way.

I believe the misrepresentation of this program by the DOJ attorneys was deliberate and should be investigated by Congress. I also think the administration reached out to the Judge and made her an offer she couldn't refuse. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets a circuit court appointment, or heaven forbid a supreme court appointment, if the opportunity presents itself during this administration's tenure.

hmmm letsee- it would need to be insulated, a pouch, say, and disguised as something easily overlooked, so you could slip it in your golf buddy's bag for him to carry....

I don't have to ask myself anything. There's a difference between leaking secret Government documents and questioning the Government and making your concerns known through protest or the ballot box. Personally I don't care if you were "born on a mountain top in tennessee" and you give all you own to the "downtrodden". That might get you an old TV show or the Mother Teresa award but it doesn't make you any more "Right" than anyone else so don't question what I stand for. And it is very simple, if you leak classified information you should be delt with appropriately. I simply opt for executing a*holes that leak secret information.
