Whipsaw's Account Talk

JTH, you can turn wrenches with me anytime; Intrepid, I've got jumper cables (are you in VA?)... Spent Saturday visiting with my daughter at college, going back into the bowls of my Jeeps engine compartment ; need to check and double check the chain and gears install so I don't mess this up. Only lost 1 fastener (for the alternator), hopefully it will turn up. Coffee's done, gotta run! Have a great day all.

Timing chain and gears, water pump and new alternator installed, Jeep's running like a top! :D

I stole (borrowed?) this link from Dreamboat Annie's thread: Dow Jones U.S. Completion Total Stock Market Index, XX:DWCPF Advanced Chart - (DJW) XX:DWCPF, Dow Jones U.S. Completion Total Stock Market Index Stock Price - BigCharts.com

The current state of the chart looks very very similar to the previous bottom toward the end of March; any interpretation on this being a bottom? I'd go in 50% if I had another IFT, its all or wait at this piont... Thoughts? Thanks!

Top 40... somewhat anti-climactic for all the carnage :worried:. Futures are ugly at the moment, strong downward move with a bounce at 1815...
ESM14.CME: Summary for E-Mini S&P 500 Jun 14- Yahoo! Finance

You say carnage, I say unrealized opportunity, I wouldn't feel bad, we can't all be winners at the same time. For the most part, this forum has the same information I have with many premium subscribers having much more. I don't take any of this seriously, as long as I'm beating the Markets, I'm happy, everything else is just gravy. :)

Waiting to see what Monday brings for a potential entry. If I had 2 IFTs I'd throw in 50% now, FWIW. Have a great weekend everyone! Stay cool...

Future's mixed? I'm liking DBA's analysis in Ravensfan's thread... more downside w/non-weather driven negative earnings reports :suspicious:. # 29 on the tracker, imagine that!

Watch for a possible surprise in the last hour - the shorts will scramble once again. But then maybe not.

Hi Birchtree! I hope your right, especially seeing how so many are heavily invested in market.

I'll be the first to admit I ignored the 10 day crossover the 20 daily EMA indicator that has reared its ugly head even last month...wishful thinking on my part... Costly lesson learned. I had done some review of indicators that worked best at getting you out before major downturns and that is the only one that appeared to consistently work. I wrongly chose to ignore that indicator because it's biggest drawback is that when market is volatile and MACD flattening...you can have a lot if whipsawing. With our limited IFTs per month, that can be a real handicap.

In any case, With high level volatility this year, watching indicators and sticking with that as opposed to emotions is going to become more critical for those of us who are not buy and holders. Otherwise, volatility and staying in too long will force some to accept buy and hold as the option to avoid locking in a loss. Only problem with that is if this is a deeper correction than anticipated it would extend recovery time. So I'm still definitely looking to limit the loss... Will be watching for the bounce up. Hoping that bounce doesn't trick me into a false prolonged sense of security...after all this roller coaster is no where near its end! If bounces do not pull up enough, it's a pick your best day for pull out time....uggghhhhh.. Best wishes!! :)

I was at all day meetings today, may have been the day to jump back in... Will check the futures in the morning, then its out of pocket again. :worried: This is where I got stuck the last time, thinking the market will continue lower and missing the rally. JTH has lots of good analysis pointing to at least a short term run up, whether getting in at COB tomorrow will catch it... I don't want to run with my monicker again ;).

Ditto for me...no access to electronics or a PC from 0845 to 1730...futures look bright. Looks like another good call by JTH

Futures are up! Hope this isnt too short a run, 100% S COB 16 Apr!   I'll be checking back later today or tonight... Good luck out there!

Picked up .4% in the S fund yesterday according to my TSP spreadsheet (I fund was up .49 :suspicious:). That puts me over 4% so far for this year, not too shabby considering 7 year CDs for the same amount are at ~ 2.7% :cheesy:. Should be a quiet day today at work, happy Good Friday and happy Easter to all. Have a great weekend :)

Hi Whipsaw, happy Easter to you too! :). Have a blessed day.

I hope everyone had a great weekend :) Futures are mixed, headed into the green; if we have a good day today, what does that mean for turn aound Tuesday? :worried:
