Whipsaw's Account Talk

Sad, yes....but bad, not so much. Crunch the numbers. 700k at retirement. Then make an average of 6% a year (42,000) but only draw down by 5% (35,000) a year and your gross continues to rise. Sure, you have to pay taxes on it but retire in a tax friendly area and you only have to pay the federal.

:D Nice day to be in the markets! Rally to the close!

Have a great weekend everyone, we may be getting some time off next week... =:-o

Futures are UP! Just zorched past RF and gaining on DBA on the Tracker :D
HI Whipsaw!! Catch me if you can!! :D
Looks like many of us are doing great this year!

But .... as usual, I am a bit nervous. Right now, DOW is up 154 pts. More importantly, the TSP funds right now are at S=+.21 and C fund= +.39% and the I Fund = +.46%
Looks like I fund is leading though it has lots of gaps up. C fund is also doing great.

I heard on FBN that the thought was the market should go up about 7% due to the tax plan passage. Well... looks like we are close to that now. But we have another week of earnings; yet Fed meets next week on Tuesday and Wednesday.

I am thinking to gradually exit this week...reducing exposure to pocket some of these gains.
Thinking maybe to exit 35-40% today, maybe another 35-40% by Friday???
Still thinking about it. I just do not want to exit too early but also don't want to take a big hit by exiting on a bad day. oh gosh... I would cry and scream into my pillow if I fully exited and it kept going up!!! :17: But right now I am very happy with the earnings this month. Gosh... I need to knock on wood before I jinx myself! lol...

Best wishes to you and everyone on your investments!!!!!!! 1 hr and 22 minutes to decide..... lol

But I must say the Greedy side of me wants to stay in and take the hit if it comes anytime soon. Ugghh..... decisions decisions!

So Whipsaw, are you staying in? I have seen just a few people exit. I think I saw Aviator Guy exit yesterday and he is like +6%.
The question is, will Humpty Dumpty take a great fall anytime soon? I dunno.... things are going great!! But eventually there must be a small and short pull back. No more IFTs to get in until next week on Thursday so that is a very long time from now... it would be excruciating to see it continue up for that long.. I will most likely stay in at least partially. Will see... a little more than an hour to decide....

DBA, hit the brakes and I'll fly right by! We'll see; the angle of ascent at this point does give one pause, still wondering what is going to upset the apple cart and when. All the doom and gloom predictions since early last year have yet to pan out. Steady as she goes, at least till the FOMC?

Hi WS, I'm sure you will be happy to learn that I missed the deadline.. Got too busy at work. Of course, lifted my head as soon as it was 10 minutes past the deadline... But that's okay. Probably for the best. Not sure I will be able to keep the lead as I think I picked the small bull!! Lol.... S fund not doing as well as C and I fund.... Well except last Friday. Every day its like one tries to outdo the other.

Oh... And of course there was that usual runup in market up to the noon deadline, and now it has dropped a lot!! Was above 160 pts on DOW and now its at 20. ugghhhh:notrust:let's hope for late afternoon rally.... p.s....oh gosh...just looked S fund down -.56 right now and C fund down -.17 and I fund is 0. ughhhhh. whaaaaaaaaaa......:puppy_dog_eyes: ::yuck:

With everyone at different percentages it will be an interesting race. :D

Futures are UP! :D Might be time to re-balance out of the I fund... a strengthening US dollar will take the wind out of its sales, as it did yesterday pulling me down -.- My glorious iota of a lead on RF was just as short lived, relish the good times my friends! :cheesy:

Hum...that Ifund percentage is what keeps pulling my head above water every time the c fund sinks. Not so much yesterday but being across the funds really helps keep it real when the US market drops. Humm?

Should the dollar strengthen going forward, that will impact the I fund, it may not have as much growth. You're right though, of late, being spread across the funds has worked fairly well. Seasonality has the S-fund performing best, but it has not been.

Cheer up Whipsaw. You gained 0.81% today and are up 4.16% for the month. I would take those numbers any day of the week. The important thing is that we are all "Winning" as the President would say and building a nice little retirement nest egg. And after all, isn't that what it's all about? :D

Tell me about it. The S Fund has been lagging for a looooooong time now. I've been waiting too long for it to catch up. I'm ready to bail to C before the end of the month. That means S will take off in February.
