Where can/should you retire?

hmmm...South America......right in the middle of NOWHERE....You'd have to be rich to travel in and out of there!

You guys are freaks:laugh:

I have a few years to decide...so I got to plan.....

I am in Southern California and I REFUSE to retire here.

I'm going to put in for a Puerto Rico (DREAMIN) or overseas assignment.....Then maybe PPP into a Florida Gig!

Where I will retire!

Good luck with that Frixxxx. I was all set to retire a few miles north of CountryBoy and then the AF decided I was too comfortable and gave me four choices. Retire, Biloxi MS, Ft Hood TX or Mcguire. I was greedy for that last longevity raise so went to NJ for 16 months. It all worked out though, I ended up out here.

Glad you didn't choose Keesler.....You'd be LOCO:blink:...I may come visit you on my way to the biosphere this fall!

Drop on by, if the I-10 bridge over the newly expanded Salton Sea is open yet:D. Seriously, hope your staying safe with all the recent seismic activity.

Retiring in December and as soon as I can sell house, moving from Texas to North Alabama. cost of living significantly lower than living in Houston.

Will probably move next door to South Dakota (no state tax), 3 hours from the Twin Cities, 1.5 hrs from Fargo (kids live there).

One thing to remember besides money/cost of living is, what are going to do to in your new home? Many people retire to places that they visited once and just liked it. I ask them. Do you have family in the area? No? You have any friends in the area? No? What hobbies or interests that you like that are there? You like to ocean fish? Where do you do that in Arizona?

Me and my wife spend 2 -3 weeks a year in our future retirement home. We have friends close by. Family and more friends within 3 hours drive. All ready in contact with a couple of local clubs with my hobbies of my interest. And a busy city with numerous cultural events and activities with 45 minutes. That, plus, we will be debt/mortgage free in our newly built home.

There is just more to consider about where to retire than just the money aspect. JMTC

Six more months until this 44 year gov worker (22 Mil and 22 GS). Plan to put house up for sale around October and apply for my social security same time frame (to begin Jan 2011). Will move to Decatur/Huntsville Ala area whenever the Good Lord sends someone to buy our house. We don't have a fire under us, however would like to get off this Gulf coast and the Houston area ASAP.

Alabama has one of the lowest cost of living rate in the country, plus they don't tax Military pensions, government pensions or social security, which is a big plus.

We do have lots of family there..........can't wait............YEE HaW!

Sounds GREAT ZEB, retirement is good, I love it! Alabama is right next to GA so it couldn't be all bad!
Best of luck selling your house.:D
