For those who didnt track this discussion when it started (officially that was yesterday :)), this subforum is completely dedicated to developing decision making tools to aid in TSP allocation decisions. Its definately a large task. But given the passion of the board members towards their TSP pursuits, its definately doable. Along the way, there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange ideas from others about what has worked for them historically as well as do some exploratory looking to find nuggets that others may have overlooked.

If you are interested in contributing to this effort, please drop a note so I can start putting a list together. Thanks!

Hey, ChemEng! Thanks for starting this initiative. I'm still tweaking the spreadsheet I have. I found a couple of mistakes in it. One of them was that the I Fund Histogram was calculated 9EMA - MACD, when it should have been MACD - 9 EMA.

Another messup was the labeling on the top of some columns all the way on the right. The order should be G F C S I, not G F S C I. It's not a big deal, because all the math still refers to the correct data for the right funds.

Just to let you know... Something I'm trying to do is have the Monkey react quicker as the current price gets closer to a longer term moving average. We could use the bollinger bands to help with this. The closer the current price gets to one of the extremes of the band, the more weight today's price gets in the EMA.

Ive started some threads this morning the contain the close prices for TSP, MACD calculation spreadsheet, and Bollinger Bands spreadsheets. I will do my darndest in the mornings to make sure the close prices is up to date. The intent of the threads is to give a common place to discuss how to apply them to technical analysis. Experiences where it gave a particular good tell, or was misleading would work in these areas.

I've never seen this type of action on the Board before. Team Work is great, it won't be easy, but don't give up, there is going to be disappointments, but it's all part of the process. If there is anything I can do to help let me know. As you know I'm no market analyst and not that great at Excel, but willing.
Thanks for your efforts,
Norman

Dissappointments are just a matter of perspective. Remember what Edison said: I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Jump in whereever you see the opportunity.
