USPS Fleet Planning and Management - GovEnergy 2007

Not a postal carrier, but I see a big opportunity to retrofit a small engine into LLV's for biofuels. E85 and reduce the current 2.5 liter 1990's "Iron Duke" technology engine, for a modern 1.4 liter turbo (Chevy Cruze) that will boost fuel economy significantly.

How does one get their hands on an LLV used, to be able to do some experiments on? Do they show up used at auction anywhere?

A turbo does not boost economy, it never has, and actually will give less mpg cause most cannot keep their foot out of it. Esp. if its not your vehicle and your fuel.

maybe the USPS can save fuel cost by stopping the deliverer from driving up to every house leaving the vehicle running and then walking up to the house to put the mail in the mailbox and then driving to the next house and do the same. This is what is going on in my area.
Also the snow contract for clearing the parking lot for the workers includes 6 -10 people shoveling snow from btwn the parked vehicles. is this why stamp cost keeps going up?
