USNAVYRETIRED's Account Talk

We got 413 people listening to every word you say. Try not to be profane - I know about you Navy folks. Good luck.

FWIW... When you call the TSP line, 877-968-3778, you need to enter your PIN, which is the PIN you have had in the past before they went to the new Password..... :D

Looks like we are getting a little upswing in the C and S, but unfortunately not in the I fund, not yet anyway! Hope it keeps going up up up!!!

Has anyone checked the TSP site to see if your biweekly contribution for 18 May has been posted to your account??? I just checked the TSP site mine hasn't been posted.
Last payday I lost money due to being in one of the funds (C, S, or I) but I didn't know exactly how much I lost. (I can see that now thanks to TSPLookup.) When I checked my TSP balance the next day, I couldn't tell if my contribution had been credited to my account or not. It showed in the "recent transactions" on the TSP site, but I'm still not sure it was added to the G fund balance (which is where my contributions go) and the overall balance in my account.
Is there any way of seeing your balance before and after your contributions have been added??? The only way I know of to see this is on the quarterly statement, but that won't be available until sometime after the end of June.... :o

Use the balance lookup feature on the bottom of the balance page in the "Your Account Balance."

I just checked and mine was posted

John

John... Thanks! I don't think mine are being credited to my account.
I changed the amount of my contribution which should have been effective last payday, and my LES shows the correct amount, but as I said, I couldn't tell if it had been added to my TSP account or not.
I think it's time I give them a call. Thanks for taking the time to check yours..... :toung:

Moved to 100% G Fund. I don't care what Greenspan says,
I still get the penny on Tuesday! (I think!) ;)

Hope everyone has a great (and safe) Memorial Day Weekend. :cheesy:

FYI... I just found this on FedWeek concerning our TSP accounts..... :)

6. TSP Continues to Weigh Changes
---------------------------------
The TSP is continuing to consider several potential changes to the program, most significantly the prospect of adding a "Roth" option in which investors would put in after-tax money, but withdrawals of that money and its associated earnings would be tax-free. Currently, the TSP accepts only pre-tax money, and on withdrawal that money and the associated earnings are taxable. However, any money designated for such accounts would count against the dollar limit (this year, $15,500) that applies to investments in the TSP and similar private sector savings plans. Other plans have begun offering such options more widely in the last several years, but the TSP would need to get legislation approved in order to make that change. The TSP governing board likely will formally consider such a proposal in the upcoming months. Meanwhile, the board has approved a plan to send out an annual statement at the start of each year, starting in 2008, in addition to the quarterly statements it now makes available. The annual statement will be mailed, in part to help the TSP learn if it has current addresses for participants.

7. Automatic Enrollment also Considered
---------------------------------------
The TSP also is considering requiring that newly hired employees invest some of their own money unless they opt out of the program. Under current policy, newly hired employees must opt in, and large numbers of them don't. They continue to get the automatic 1 percent of salary contribution from their agencies that FERS employees get, but they miss out on matching contributions from investing their own money, plus tax-free earnings. Under the plan under consideration, newly hired employees would have 3 percent of their pay invested in the TSP automatically unless they chose a different amount. The TSP also is considering making the lifecycle funds the default investment fund for those who do not designate a fund, rather than the current default of the government securities (G) fund. Those changes also would require legislation.

I'm very conflicted:

Oil is up, but... the markets just took a tick to the upside...for how long who knows..

Three days down should mean a good day tomorrow...

Inflation concerns abound...but the markets memory is short..

Everyone is bailing to G...that's generally a good sign to do something contrary...

Asia made a few sheckles yesterday, but USM's haven't got back in the groove yet..will Asia slide tomorrow?????

Negative news...we're sliding in the channels...the charts don't look good..

I'm thinking of going in part way....75 -G, 25 - S.. if I go in...

For Monday, 12% is going C, Ebb is I, and many are going to the C&S.
I think I'll split it all up and go G 10%, C 30%, S 30%, I 30%. Got all the bases covered and even get 10% of the penny!!! Good luck to all and have a great weekend!!!! :toung:
