Flipping through channels tonight looking for news before bed time, I find there is none. Wasn't Headline News Network once that? I find this:

HLN-Showbiz tonight
CNN-Anderson Cooper
CNBC-Mad Money
FNC-The O'Reilly Factor
MSNBC-The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnel

Does the typical person in the US consider these talk/opinion shows to be the news?

OK I can look on the internet. No news other than that about some mother who killed her kid and got away with it. Oh yeah, if you dig deep something about Greece and people getting killed somewhere by bombs and some prince visiting Canada. Phoenix is a vast wasteland due to a haboob.

I remember when cable TV channels were actually good for getting the news 24/7. Now they are all useless.

Or not, maybe what I see is what I need to know.

Just a rant about how useless the MSM is.

And how about that 24/7 Casey Anthony coverage? Now THAT'S important. I tried to avoid it, but it was everywhere.

In the last month I've traveled to California, Rhode Island, and Virginia, and I live in Orlando, which of course is Casey Anthony central. But everywhere I went that news story followed me. But being so close to the scene, we've been hearing about it locally for the last 3 years, and it's still not over given all the fallout that's occurring post-verdict.

Yes, same news, different spin. I'm wondering what happened to World news, now I have to get it by going to a foreign news channel. Then I'm stuck with the local spin, whether it be British, French, Japanese or Arab (Al-Jazeera - which I use for Arab Spring news). The most hilarious hands down has to be RT - the Russian "It's a US conspiracy" channel.

It's a sad day when I'm watching Comedy Channel to get the latest US news.
