Turkey IQ

Wild turkeys are actually very smart, stealthy birds, if you don't like hunting, try to track one with a movie camera (good luck!). Not to be mistaken for the big white domestic version that can't even stand up anymore after it reaches a certain age (little legs, large breast meat area). Ben Franklin knew about the wild version. He'd think the domestic version fits the stereotype of "bird brain", it's been bred to be stupid along with having a body type that would never survive 10 minutes out in the wild.

It was a TV series back in the 70's

You're in luck..here is the whole episode from 1978...The good stuff happens about 18 minutes into the show..

Okay - well - here is where they got the idea - National Enquirer picked up the story as an example of animal cruelty. Yellville's Turkey Trot Festival - here's some of the events:

...I guess they try to keep a local secret since all the bad outside publicity -:D
Thanx for the link to the TV show - that was funny !
And I have seen that show, but don't remember seeing that episode..

Sometime ago - long time ago, I guess, I heard there used to be Turkey Drops out of helicopters over around the North Central part of AR, near the MO border ...
I guess that lasted until folks got tired of trying to catch the turkey before it hit the ground & turned to mush! - :p
...actually, I think PETA got after them for that......
You sure you weren't watching an episode of WKRP in Cincinnati?:D
