Have you thought about updating the F fund quote by using the bond yield quotes on Yahoo, instead of the AGG? 350z has been doing this and the estimates have been better than the AGG lately. I'm not sure why the AGG has been so off.

Just a suggestion.

Thanks!
Tom

I'm not an expert on bonds. But I think investors are buying and selling short term notes because they're jumping in and out of stocks. They can't decide whether to be in or out. This volatility in the short term notes and the disparity of their prices as compared to the long term notes may be throwing off the AGG.

The AGG has been a fairly reliable measure in more stable times and the value is easy for me to retrieve. But, I'll watch the $TNX for awhile and see if 350Z's method is significantly more accurate over time.

Thanks for the suggestion. :)

I have updated TSPLookup to v2.1! These are the changes:

1) Now using 350zCommTech’s method to calculate the F Fund share price change. (I’m still showing the quote for the AGG however. It just appears more logical than showing a negative yield for the TNX and TYX and then showing a positive share price change.)

2) Now using the Bloomberg quote (EFD:IND) for the I Fund.

3) Eliminated the need to save the I Fund estimate at 12:15 P.M. ET.

4) Eliminated the need to select your local time zone (and eliminated that userform.)

5) Re-ordered the countries that comprised the I Fund in the new order of highest percentage to lowest.

6) Re-ordered the foreign currencies in order of highest percentage to lower.

7) Added the percentage composition to the I Fund country column (as suggested/requested by RPM.)

8) Added support for 1280 x 800 screen resolution (for those of you with widescreen LCDs and laptops.)

9) Made a few minor code changes to improve performance.

That’s it. Lots of changes!!!

I haven’t changed the screenshots on www.tsptalk.com/tsplookup yet but I’ll get around to it soon. Download the file at your convenience (click the link in my signature.)

Thanks for using TSPLookup!

Hi Jayhawker; I use and love your spreadsheet, great work! I just downloaded the lastest version, and is it just me, or is there a glitch?
All the price and "my money" information fields have reset to 0, giving me a balance of 0......... scary! Heh. This is true for both yesterdays and todays estimate tabs.. Hafta try and retreive the old version. ( Now where in the heck did I put that file) .... hmmmm ... Heh:blink:

Erk!... I mean after I hit Update on the dashsboard, the Price information fields are 0 for both the Yesterday's (8/30/2007), and the Today's Estimate tabs, resulting in 0 for the amounts in the fund balances and the Total fields of the dashboard. [sorry about that sentence].

That could be normal behavior for the Todays estimate this time of day but not, I think for yesterdays.

Gadit'slate! Igotdagotabed.:o

It's broke! OH NO! :embarrest: I guess I streamlined the code a wee bit too much!

Okay... the share prices are missing. This happened because the TSP website added an informational banner on that page informing you of the Labor Day holiday AND I TOOK OUT THE CODE THAT ADJUSTS FOR THAT! (Smacks forehead!!) I'M AN IDIOT! :)

Sorry! I'll fix it tonight, upload the file and let you know here. In the meantime, look at the pretty green numbers on the board today!!! :D

You are not an idiot! Lookup is a beautiful piece of work! Smaks of genius! Green has always been my favorite color. Any color green is better than any other color. (Obvious exceptions not withstanding.. hmmm..not too sure of the accuracy of that syntax):D

I fixed it! Download the updated file at your convenience.

I apologize for my error and your inconvenience.

First post here---GREAT website. Very professional and informative.

Jayhawker----FANTASTIC tool man! Your Excel skills are first class...kudo's.

I've been using TSPLookup for a few months now...I have a confession to make. *standing up* "Hi...I'm USPS1980 and I am a buy and holder" *hears the gasps from the crowd*

Yes, I am a buy and holder---but, that's changing! My old strategy was simple---as I said above---buy and hold. I'd sit in the S fund and ride the roller coaster day in, day out. Now, I did decent enough by doing as such...the S fund gives good returns over the long haul. BUT, since using TSPLookup as a daily "guide" I've made several balance transfers since early June and my profits are SO much nicer than they would have been by just riding the aforementioned S coaster...

Thanks Ed for the work...its greatly appreciated! I hope you're supported by the users here.

Thanks for the kind words I (I needed them today!) and your generous donation (I got it!)

Welcome to the board!

Fellow USPSer, welcome and glad to see ya posting on the MB.

Jayhawker,

Hang in there on the job. I'm pull'n for ya. Enjoy your time in Norman.

2) Now using the Bloomberg quote (EFD:IND) for the I Fund.

It seems bloomberg.com changed the layout of the EFD:IND quote. This change caused the I Fund quote in TSPLookup to be "messed up."

If it's still this way tomorrow, I'll assume the change is permanent. I'll adjust TSPLookup, upload the updated file, and let you know here.

Once again, bloomberg.com has changed the layout of the EFD:IND quote. :suspicious: This change is causing the time of the quote to be "messed up."

This is an annoyance but only the time of the quote is affected. Tsplookup is still showing the value of the quote correctly - which is the most important part.

I'll look at this the first part of next week, fix the code and add some error checking to ensure tsplookup will show the time of the quote correctly.

TSPLookup users:

There appears to be a problem with the web queries from Yahoo.com tonight. If this problem doesn't fix itself in a day or two, I'll update TSPLookup for you.

Also, Yahoo states the symbol ^FCHI (France's CAC 40) is no longer valid. That's absurd! What idiot is in charge at Yahoo finance???

It was changed to FCE.NX without the little ^ :)

Thanks wv_girl! Hey, have YOU tried TSPLookup yet? :)

Okay, I've modified TSPLookup to work with the changes Yahoo has made. I'll upload the file when I get home today and you can download it from the link in my signature.

For all those that have donated, I'll send you an email message letting you know the file has been updated and is ready for download.
