Tsp50

Sorry, Wife did not have time today to check. She had a meeting all morning and is leaving for home now. Girl Scout Gig with daughter.

She promises she will check tomorrow about the TSP50 FORM. :)

The point is not to have us all out photocopying, even if they can be.

The point is that very few, if any, agencies have the form- so the Thrift Board had better either caugh them up, or leave us alone.

By the way, My agency personnel office says "No, we don't do any paper forms anymore- you can do everythign on-line. We don't have anyone who does paper anymore. ". And they reassigned all the paperpushers elsewhere several years ago.

No forms.

No people to handle the forms, even if they had them.

Hmmm...this could get interesting.

No forms available, Yeah we'll show those 3000 creeps. They must use Snail Mail but there are no forms!! RATS!

Looking over the tsp form I notice several items-

latest revision 8/2002
requests SSN as account identifier
says to mail completed form to : TSP Service Office
National Finance Center
P.O. Box 60012
New Orleans, LA 70160-0012

Seems I have an outdated form or they are really boneing it.

I'm loven' it.

I can't wait to author the article in the next TSPSHAREHOLDER.ORG newsletter.

The Wife just reported back. She went down to her personal office and they only had 8 tsp50 forms.

She said it is a two sided form, print on both sides. She took all 8. And that is it for the whole department of Ed.

I contacted my personnel office, and guess what? They don't have any forms either. What a surprise!!

They told me I could make my transfers on-line.:cheesy: (which I am continuing to do)

They will try to order the forms for me. I wonder how long that will take.

Guys *(said in a gender neutral kind of way...)

I am going to write a little about the non-existent TSP-50 form in the next newsletter. I would like, if possible, a little more information about your journey in trying to find them--- like what Agency doesn't have them where, etc.

something like this:

"The FAA- In kansas city, the personnel specialist said they don't have the forms anymore- in fact they don't even have the people to process forms any more.

Post office- The southern california post office personnel office in (Los Angeles)- said they threw out the old ones years ago, but they said they would try and order some through the system. No word on when they will be avaiable.

Retiree in Florida- tried to call the thrift line, and was told that there are no forms available, etc.

U.S.Army Germany- a Sergeant asked for one from the Hidelberg personnel office- but they doesn't even know what a TSP-50 is- directed them to the website, and then said they'll have to get back...etc.

I want enough information to really be able to tell this story- it's a good one.

I want REAL PEOPLE stories. You can withold enough info to protect your identity, but please give me a little more detail info so I can write the HUMAN side of the poor preparation to try and restrict people.

You get the drift. I am looking for the human side.

Please help me out with a few more details....

IUf you don't want to post them here, fine- just PM me, and I'll take it from there....

Thanks

J

James,

I called the Thrift Line to order some forms as well. Initially, I was told that I could make my transfers online ... the girl to whom I spoke knew about the impending restrictions but not the ability to mail in your IFTs.

She told me to contact my personnel office. Told her that I was a separated employee and did not have a personnel office any longer. I asked for 250 forms .. she had to go talk to her supervisor. She then told me that I couldn't ask for 250 forms over the phone, I would have to write in or fax a request. I asked her if I could order a smaller number, say 10.

She said she would send them. To date, I haven't received them yet.

That's interesting that they told you would have to fax in a request, to get 250 forms. I faxed in my request for just that (250 forms) a week ago now, and have gotten zero response. No forms, and no letter of fax telling me they can't send the forms. Nothing.

I'm starting to think this 3 limit IFT is a bluff. They would have to look at the other side of the Coin here. There would have to be tsp50 form's available to everyone.

O.K. This is Cool.

The last thing TSP wants to do is start processing a whole bunch of paper forms for IFTs. They are obviously not set up to do that anymore, just as our personnel offices are not set up to distribute or deal with the forms. This whole threat to force us to use paper forms is a bluff, and a poorly-designed bluff at that. They don't even have the forms available, so there is NO WAY they can force folks to use them! I am encouraging everyone to fax in a request to them for TSP-50's, and document the response (or non-response) you get from them. If they ever try to force anyone to use paper forms to make an IFT, when the forms are not readily available, they are going to have a MUCH BIGGER problem on their hands when someone loses $$ because of the inability to make an IFT.

I have the tsp50 form in hand. It is actually a two page form printed on all 4 sides. Not seperated but inclusive. On the front page it is dated October 2007.

For GGal, If you pm me your address I will send you one if you have not found one yet.

Let me know.. :)

Thanks, I don't need it......I was trying to make a point about how the 3000 bad ones will manage to make snail mail transfers without readily available forms.

Thanks though!

Thanks for the info on the date of form. The one I got from my personel office has a date of 8/2002 and is one sheet printed both sides. For mailing address on it - New Orleans, La.
I called the TSP line last night to see if it was the most upto date edition. She wasnt able to answer -- just kept saying to go back to personel or payroll people for new form. She implied that payroll might have form online. I will be checking that out over the course of the day.

My personel office has several hundred of the 8/2002 editions.

Poolman:

Where did you get the "October 2007" version of this form? From what agency and office?

Thanks

P.S.- Can you scan it and e-mail it to me? I am looking ofr the graphic for the newsletter.

Thanks

P.P.S-

the 2002 version would have been before the L funds came along, so you would not have been able to "optically scan" a transfer into any of the L funds. I would presume that the October 2007 version you are talking about- being 4 pages (two pieces of paper, two sides each) must now include the L funds.

Thanks

Hey James, This version does include the L - Funds and on the back it Say's all other version's obsolete.

My Wife got 8 of these TSP50 Forms from the Department Of Education From Her Personal Office. These were the only 8 they had. My Wife is Scanning the complete form right now. Please pm me your e-mail address. I would think you would want these sent as attachment's. I don't think we can do this with MB E-mail.

Thanks, and a BIG THANKS for everything you are doing.

Poolman :)

I got 10 TSP-50 forms in the mail yesterday. They are the Oct 2007 version. They include the L-funds and an entry for the TSP Account Number.

As I am a separated Federal employee, I had to get them from the TSP Thriftline. As I recounted before, they would not send me 250 ... but they did send me the 10 I asked for.

But I still haven't received my letter yet.
