TSP Talk Weekly Wrap Up

Stocks produced slight gains for the week with volatile action meeting back up to break even by Friday. New all-time highs were produced Monday but those gains were quickly swept away as stocks closed at their lows on Tuesday. Things came back up to par Wednesday where they remained for the most part as the week closed out.

The Fed minutes were released Wednesday with dovish remarks which was taken well by traders.

The S-fund led this week with a slight gain of 0.31%. The I-fund lagged with a loss of 0.58%.

The SPY (S&P 500 / C-fund) continues to move horizontally which has been a normality since mid-July. The index did produce a new closing high Monday and we also saw the 20-day EMA act as support once again. The C-fund had a slight gain of just 0.06% for the week.

The Dow Completion Index (S-fund) fell below its rising trading channel Wednesday but was back within on Thursday and closed at the support line Friday. Its 20-day EMA also acted as support; it switched the early downward momentum to give the fund the best return of the week with a gain of 0.31%.

EFA (EAFE Index / I-fund) has had trouble making anymore upside past the April high. A lower open Friday sealed in the losses for the week giving the I-fund a loss of 0.58% for the week.

AGG (Bonds / F-fund) also found itself in negative for the week after running into declining resistance Thursday. We do see its 20-day EMA also having an effect of support as it has not closed below in nine days. The F-fund was down 0.18% for the week.
