TSP Talk Weekly Wrap Up: 01/02/11

Quick Holiday Wrap-Up

Stocks were relatively flat last week, during the very light volume holiday trading.

For the week, the C-fund added 0.09%, the S-fund slipped 0.11%, and the I-fund gained 0.79% with the help of a weaker dollar. Bonds (F-fund) rebounded 0.58% last week, and the G-fund picked up 0.05%.

For the month of December, the stock funds did very well. The C-fund was up 6.68%, the S-fund gained 7.38%, and the I-fund led the way gaining at +8.12%. The F-fund was down 1.05%, and the G-fund is up 0.20%.

For the year, the C-fund finished up 15.06%, the S-fund nearly doubled that at +29.06%, and the I-fund lagged picking up 7.94% in 2010. The F-fund was higher by 6.71%, and the G-fund made 2.81%.


Here is the historical seasonal performances surrounding the New Year's holiday. It's interesting how strong the 2nd trading day in January is.
