A friend of mine actually read the little white paper with instructions that comes with the cup, and apparently it says DO NOT microwave. I guess I need to run some tests.

i think that is the same generic instructions they put in the stainless steel mugs too. probably some poor chinese girl gets a dollar for every thousand mugs she stuffs on the sweat shop assembly line. i quit reading instructions ever since i got a little electronic pocket blackjack trinket for a stocking stuffer back in the '90's and the one page operational manual started of with 'Turn the Compter on'.

when i free my new mug from the post office lock down i will microwave it on hi for 5 minutes dry and report back what kind of art comes out. i suspect it will be just fine.

I wouldn't try the Microwave on a mug with a liner. If it's a stainless liner it could explode or at a minimum break the seal from the pressure of the heated air between the outside and the liner. If the liner is plastic it could melt or break the seal or release chemicals, BPA etc.
I'm just chicken.

i hereby certify the new tsptalk microwavable mug 100% microwave safe. i put it in the one at work empty and zapped it for 2 minutes. i was getting a little worried with all the popping and sizzle noises there towards the end, but it turns out that was just the cheese drippings and spaghetti sauce spatters getting excited. the mug was cool to the touch and unharmed.

i didn't try it with liquid because the coffee in the pot right next to it was already hot and that didn't seem to bother it a bit either.

I believe it is just another CYA generic form.

I hope it's inclusion covers Tom in the event that either myself, burro or any other entity in any place known now or yet to be discovered, such entity existing in any known form or yet to be discovered form, is caused harm to include psychological issues, damage, future damage, damage to themselves, others, future generations or the universe or whatever in the future it may become known to be called.

I tried a test at home, put a heaping teaspoon of coffee flavor crystals in the cup with about 3/4 capacity water. Microwaved it on high for one minute. It was not hot enough so I microwaved it on high for two minutes. The contents boiled over at about 1:45. I may have a case?

I stand with burro that this cup is safe to microwave for up to three minutes on high.

nope it's all bpa-free plastic inside and out including the cap. i'm certain you could sneak one through a metal detector, but i don't know why you would want to.

I cannot speak for tsptalk.com but that is probably the policy there.

after a few days of use, i have to say that i like this microwavable mug the best. not so shiny i'm afraid to touch it like my black one and not so curvy i feel as if everybody is staring at me like i'm the sidekick on will and grace.

it's such a simple solution, clean and functional, not flashy but projects competence, looks good and keeps coffee hot for a long time. i think tom might be right that coffee tastes better out of a plastic mug than stainless liner.

this is by far my favoritest coffee cup i've had, evah.

The only down side so far with the new plastic, microwavable mug is that it's white so it is getting dirty from use at work and if you don't wash it regularly it gets kinda brownish inside.

I posted a couple of new mug shots but since I added them to an existing post, they didn't show up as new. Nothing exciting, just around the job site.

Yeah, you have to watch that and not let the coffee sit in it for a couple days. Perhaps a little water / bleach soak will help?
