I've found some people like Tom's better, some like mine better. Maybe it is a left brain/right brain thing.
Fundsurfer, thinking about that right/left brain thing > I must remember that. I think it explainswhy HALF the time I don't understand half of the comments on the board. I've always excelled in math, statistics, etc. For you >>>

Pyriel's spreadsheet is only slightly different than Tom's. (Tom, you should look at Pyriel's version since it makes it much easier to add lines to the spreadsheet for people like cowboy, namor, and milk_man who make bunches of trades.)
For the record... It is Fundsurfer who modified Tom's tracker. Tom's original tracker does not allow to add more line by cutting and pasting. Fundsurfer's modification fixed all that so I am now able to track people's move without having to create another tracker for them.

I can provide a copy for anyone who wants it. PM me. Thanks...

Re: TRACKING RETURNS-FORMULA for bi-weekly contribs

HELP!
I am new to this board. I am trying to build an Excel sheet that will track my TSP returns, but I am unsure as to how to deal with my bi-weekly contributions. Once I add the contribution, the general formula treats it as part of the gain as counted against the original principal, so my actual return should be smaller because my contributions should be treated as principal, not gains. Anyone has a math formula for this? Thanks a million. TraderJD47.

Why not use the spread sheet Tom offers to track your return and modify the sheet to include a beginning balance, contributions, loan payment(s), and withdrawals? Should only take you a couple of minutes to add these features.

Here's the link to the 2007 return calculator:

This is an excellent website to calculate your TSP RETIREMENT PLAN. I rate it - 5 STARS.
