The Movie Game

R is for Rocket is a collection of short stories, right? I thought I read that as a kid, with "Fire and Ice" where human lifespan is 8 days on a extreme temperature planet... the story about the time-travelling T-rex hunter that steps on a prehistoric butterfly and changes the outcome of the election in his own time... it ends with the story about new tennis shoes for free, with antelope tendons inside the soles. I could be mistaken... R is for Rocket could very well be a novel. Sound of Thunder....

I sat through Sound of Music with my wife last week for major points. Also, that Vin Diesel Navy SEAL-turned-babysitter movie... extremely lame, but that tall guy from Everybody Loves Raymond as the wrestling coach was pretty good... overdone, but oh well. "You mess with the bull, you get the horns" was a good little scene, and the guy ends up playing the head nun in the final scene of the school musical... "Climb Every Mountain..."

Novel may have been the wrong word..Yes, it is a book of short stories..one of my favorites was called "Rain" IIRC..A planet that rains 100% of the time, maddening..sorta like Seattle:D

Sleepless in Seattle, of course...

Yeah I loved that book as a kid, I think my little paperback copy is still in my parent's basement somewhere. Been a long time since I've consciously thought about it, but that last story with the old shoe store owner and the kid who can't afford the shoes, promising to mow the grass and clean the store for the guy in exchange for those shoes... I was 10 when I read that book. Never can think of new shoes in any other light.
