Bulls' rally seen as likely to continue into year's end By Mike Maynard
WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Stocks are likely to rise this week, if the strong seasonal pattern of years past holds true, according to Barrington Research. A lack of corporate news and low trading volumes will likely mark trading, and the week's economic indicators "should bring positive news on balance," the Chicago-based firm said. "Looking into the new year, January is historically also a good seasonal period for stock prices with small-cap stocks generally doing well in the so-called January effect. Watch out for the big 2004 winners, however, because many investors have been waiting to take profits in the New Year, thereby putting off taxes until 2006," Barrington said in its weekly update.
