Thanks again.
I understand the analogies here and plan to seriously consider what to do with the generous information you've shared.
I'm working on a tweak to my plan here...trying to follow a modified system by keeping a chunk in each of G, C, and S while moving the remaining chunk with my IFTs and not moving 100% into a single fund.
What are your thoughts? Is this bastardizing a system in an unsafe way?
I'm trying to continue with my old buy/hold with a portion instead of moving "all in" to a single fund when indicated by a system.
I've been thinking along the same track. Using a single fund S or I for example is more volatile and potentially more profitable if the "systems" timing is just right. Could potentially be larger losses if we miss the optimum time. I generally consider making moves to be either IN or OUT. If IN I spread between CS& I if OUT I usually move 100% to G or F depending on what is going on in the bond markets. Theory is that I reduce my risk by spreading between the three equity funds. Guess the idea is that we all make moves that we are comfortable with risk wise. I'm not great at picking market direction on a short-term basis but try to stay ahead of the longer term trends. JMHO
