In your case, you would probably need an Ice Berg..My spa is only 500 gallons and 60 lbs of ice dropped it 10 degreesAs far as lowering the water temp with ice, yep I tried it one time. Water was 92 I put a 128 Quart cooler in my freezer, when frozen me and a buddy took it out of the freezer and threw it in the pool. I took about 45 minutes to melt away and lowered the water temperature ZERO DEGREES. I don't know how much Ice it would take to cool off all of that warm water
We have a Kayak above-ground pool. Its almost maintenance-free really and is an attractive addition to the home. No lie, I dont have to do much of anything to it and the water stays sparkling clear and beautiful (I will post some pics later). I keep the pump on 24/7 water circulation keeps algae from forming. I use the 3" tabs a floater and usually put in a new one a few days after the last one has dissolved. Never use shock except to open the pool. Backwash weekly, clean the skimmer and vaccum when needed (maybe once a month, easy job).
All that PH stuff is a lot of bunk, I dont test the water and I dont care as long as its clear and clean. PH UP or PH down, or whatever, its a waste of money as far as I can see. Again Water Circulation, keep the pump going.
Also change Sand in sand filter EVERY YEAR, fresh sand keeps the water filtered best.
A vinyl liner lasts about 10 years. Replace when worn out and its like a brand new pool.
FAB1 LOVES his pool. No problems, Mon.
I don't know if Spa's count in this topic..But mine is sitting at 107 degrees without running the heater...I went to 7-11 and bought two bags of ICE and tossed them in, to cool it down..worked nicely
I have a fiber Optic light in my pool but haven't used it for years. The light source isn't in the pool it is topside and shines the light in the end of a fiber optic cable that ends in a lens in the pool, so changing the light bulb is a snap, mine has a color wheel too! The darn light bulb Burned out about every two months and the manufacturer was smart enough (CROOKS) to make the bulb PROPRIETARY so you have to buy it from them, darn bulbs were $40 each so after about 4 bulbs I shut it off and installed a 150 watt spotlight on the corner soffit closest to the pool, lights up the pool fine and have been using the same one for 10 years.I worry about available and residual chlorine and PH. Keep on top of them and the pool is healthy. I take samples to the pool store mainly to see what they say and how much what they recommend will cost.
Next project is replacing the under water light bulb. I can barely reach the screw from the deck and cannot get the right angle and grip to unscrew it. I am old you know. That project is best left for warmer times. Big question is if I screw in another spot light or spend $100 on a super efficient multicolor LED replacement that supposedly has many colors and can do a patriotic flag display in the water? Enjoy your life.
I have a vinyl pool and Calcium Hardness adjustments really don't make any sense, so I quit. It prevents losing calcium from plaster, gunite, tile etc, my pool has none and adding that much calcium all of the time can really mess up the Ph and Alkalinity, I know I had to empty mine after adding the recommended amount and it turned out to be too much. In your case you're stuck with it.:suspicious:

It's just a matter of keeping on top of the maintenance. I was a little ticked at myself for ignoring it that long.
As someone stated earlier, it's nice sitting on the patio with a lap top and the pool as a background.
Is your pool a liner pool or gunite, fiberglass? Is your coping Aluminum or tile?
