Stimulus Package

Charity works. I live in Utah, and while I am not LDS (morman) and I don't know the details of the religion, they do have their act together when it comes to taking care of themselves. They preach being frugal, tithing, and encourage food storage for rainy days. They are also big on assisting each other when times are tough for other church members. The people and the community take care of each other.
We have the same thing here, only they are called Amish or Mennonites. Hard-working folks who live in their own tight-knit communities. There is a large population of them near me in the Cane Creek community in Perry County, TN. They are very self-sufficient and take care of their own. I'm hoping to get some of them to build my pole-barn for me this spring. Obama should approve because most of the men look like Abe Lincoln. :D

King Harry, Queen Nancy and the Democratic Serfs

Republic - A state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.
The United States is most often referred to as a democracy, but in actuality it is republic as described above.

Since the election of Barack Obama, The United States of America has ceased to be a republic and is quietly becoming a monarchy.

Barack Obama's experience in national politics is limited to two years in the Senate and his immaturity and naivety are starting to show in a big way.

Obama has basically staked his presidency on reviving the economy and his first attempt is going to cost the American taxpayers over a trillion dollars when the interest is added to the principle.

Many people, myself included, don't believe the trillion dollar bail out package will do much, if anything, to reboot our economic fiasco, which was caused in the first place by greed on the part of some American business people and downright sloth on the part of our elected officials.

While Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were sliding into the pit of bankruptcy, Barney Frank and Maxine Waters, -this is not hearsay, I saw it myself- told us that Fannie and Freddie were in great shape and well-managed, while coercing banks to make significant loans to people who came nowhere near qualifying.

Now the same people who got us in this mess to start with are asking us to trust them to get us out of it, and they are clueless.

That being the case, why in the world would a newly elected president, who has wild popularity and a mandate to do whatever he wanted, allow his bailout legislation to be written by Nancy Pelosi and company?

He promised us that there would be no earmarks in this bill, but a piece of garbage by any other name would smell just as bad. Just watch and see how much of this money is allocated to Pelosi's San Francisco district and to Nevada, Harry Reid's fiefdom.

They claim this bill is just what America needs to pull us out of the hole. Well Nancy, if the bill is such a wonderful thing, why did you freeze the Republicans out of the committee meetings? Why did you force a vote before one single person had a chance to read this eleven hundred page monstrosity, and whatever happened to President Obama's promise to do away with earmarks and be sure the American people knew what legislation their representatives were voting for?

You wouldn't even allow the bill to be read on the floor of the House, in essence everybody who voted on this piece of crap did so without having any idea how far reaching the ramifications will be. They basically they bought a pig in a poke, pun intended.

King Harry and Queen Nancy just bulled the bill through, not caring what "We the People" think about it and my fear is that this is going to be the norm from now on. The Democrats have majorities in both houses and power mad leaders in both houses, who are bent on doing what they want, the American public be damned.

And all the little Democrat serfs got meekly in line like the pathetic herd of sheep they are. How dare you bunch of charlatans pass a bill you haven't even read and claim to be representatives of the people of this nation. You're a bad national joke.

People, we have been asleep in this country for too long. We have a full-blown emergency in Washington. We are on the verge of a monolithic, power hungry, totally out of control government, that neither listens nor cares about "We The People".

This bailout is not going to do a whit for the economy except to put the USA further in debt. It will not be two years before we'll be needing another bailout, then another one until they finally borrow all the money they can and have to admit that the greatest nation the world has ever known is on it's economic butt.

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are volatile and dangerous people. We're running on four flat tires and now the Democrats want to start tinkering with the engine and there's not a decent mechanic in the bunch. - Charlie Daniels

Wow...
Obama has been in the White House for less than 40 days and 'they' are already branding him for the fall of our Republic. You all don't think the last 8 years under a CEO/monachy administration might have something to do with our problems. Forty days is not enouph time to fix 8 years of damage, IMHO. That article required stones - GBO.

Why not go back even further than eight years, to the Clinton fiasco? But then, we can watch that all over again soon, since many of Clinton's buddies are now working for the current administration, including Hillary as Secretary of State! Double-WOW!!!

Which branch of government writes our laws, passes budgets, and appropriates funds to government agencies? The Legislative branch. What is the Legislative branch? The Congress, made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Who controlled the Congress for the last two years? The Democrats. When did the downturn begin? Approximately October of 2007. Once again, who was in charge of Congress then??? The Democrats!

Obama didn't inherit a bad economy; he helped create it! The Republicans are partially culpable for their part, but make no mistake about it, this is largely a creation of the Democratic party! IMHO.

Yeah, he also called the bottom (Dow 15 July @ 10,962.54) on 31 July when the Dow was 11,378.:D

He cracks me up.

Yea. Steve Forbes on Bloomberg was also upset (haven't seen him that worked up ever and I watched all the Republican primaries). However, I would postulate that both gentlemen are more upset with the fact that they are not favored by Obama's tax plan.

Lets go back to Carter, when I believe the CRA was created and looked what a social give away program it has morphed into. Plenty of blame to go around, but all I see BHO spending Trillions of dollars, decimating our children's future. and the Dem lead congress coming out with spending bills loaded down with pork and earmarks, however you define it. :(

It really comes down to this my fellow investors....

In the 80's 90's Congress let our jobs go overseas.....at the time there was a book out about the Depression of 1991....well the overseas investments delay that depression.......corps started making bookoo profits by lower manufactuing costs but it kept the prices of products up for us the consumers.....then to top it all off, they kept your pay income level to further increase profits .......eventually it all has to catch up to that scenario....then add on top, the profits from running up energy prices....which jacked up inflationary prices on everything......there fore you can see from these very reasons why the STIMULUS PACKAGE doesn't fix the problems that ha ve existed for over a decade.

Its simple.....now they need to first recognize it...knock out the monopolistic laws so even competion can exist, conttrol the energy escalation in the markets and the problem is solved.

But this package is nothing more than a money grab by those who can get it.....

Obama aides to defend budget plan to Congress

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090303/ap_on_go_pr_wh/obama_taxes

"This massive hidden energy tax is going to work its way through every aspect of American life," said Rep. Dave Camp of Michigan, the top Republican on the Ways and Means Committee. "How we light our homes, heat our homes and pay for the gas in our cars, in every phase of our daily lives, we will be paying higher costs."

Under the energy plan, Obama wants to reduce the emissions blamed for global warming by auctioning off carbon pollution permits. The proposal, known as cap and trade, is projected to raise $646 billion over 10 years.

Most of the money would be used to pay for Obama's "Making Work Pay" tax credit, which provides up to $400 a year to individuals and $800 a year to couples. The plan also would raise money for clean-fuel technologies, such as solar and wind power.

Orszag has acknowledged that the energy proposal would increase costs for consumers, but he argues that the vast majority of consumers will get tax breaks elsewhere in Obama's budget package.

New song recognizes 'tea party' movement
'Mr. President! Your stimulus is sure to bust, It's just a socialistic scheme'

And this ain't a song by some red neck white group either, though I do like the Right Brothers. :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2H8xHFXC8U&feature=player_embedded

The lyrics, copyright Zephyrus Music, are:

Mr President!
Your stimulus is sure to bust
Its just a socialistic scheme
The only thing it will do
Is kill the American Dream

You wanna take from achievers
Somehow you think that's fair.
And redistribute to those folks
Who won't get out of their easy chair.

We're havin' a tea party across this land
If you love this country
Come on and join our band
We're standin' up for freedom and liberty
Cause patriots have shown us freedom ain't free

So when they call you a racist cause you disagree
It just another of their dirty tricks to silence you and me.
I believe in the Constitution and all it stands for.
Anyone who tramples it should be booted out the door.

We're havin' a tea party across this land
If you love this country
Come on and join our band
We're standin' up for freedom and liberty
Cause patriots have shown us freedom ain't free

Now we're not advocating violence
That's what the so-called peace crowd do
We're talkin' peaceful protest to defend the red, white and blue

We gotta vote out these clowns who don't love the USA
Who stay up late losing sleep fearing what the French might say

We're havin' a tea party across this land
If you love this country
Come on and join our band
We're standin' up for freedom and liberty
Cause patriots have shown us freedom ain't free

We're havin' a tea party across this land
If you love this country
Come on and join our band
We're standin' up for freedom and liberty
Cause patriots have shown us freedom ain't free

Freedom ain't free
(Stand up for America)
Freedom ain't free
(Gotta take a stand)
Freedom ain't free
(Mr Obama)
Freedom ain't free
(we work hard for our money)
Freedom ain't free
(Don't give it away)
Freedom ain't free
(Save the day)
Freedom ain't free
(Don't go givin' it away)
Freedom ain't free
(It ain't gonna work)
Freedom ain't free
(Give back our freedom)
Freedom ain't free
(Give back our liberty)
Freedom ain't free
(I love my country)

GOP Says Obama Budget Threatens Future Prosperity

"We believe you create prosperity by having an affordable government that pursues its responsibilities without excessive costs, taxes or debt," Sen. Judd Gregg said in the Republican radio and Internet address.

......

Gregg, who accepted the job as commerce secretary but then withdrew his nomination because of "irresolvable conflicts" with Obama's policies, has become one of the toughest critics of Obama's handling of the economy.

"In the next five years, President Obama's budget will double the national debt. In the next 10 years, it will triple the national debt," said Gregg, R-N.H.

"His budget assumes the deficit will average $1 trillion every year for the next 10 years and will add well over $9 trillion in new debts to our children's backs," said Gregg, the top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee. "He also is proposing the largest tax increase in history, much of it aimed at taxing small business people who have been, over the years, the best job creators in our economy."

.......

In seeking to make the GOP case, Gregg said:

"It is the individual American who creates prosperity and good jobs, not the government."

"We believe that you create energy independence not by sticking Americans with a brand new national sales tax on everyone's electric bill, but by expanding the production of American energy ... while also conserving more."

"We also believe you improve everyone's health care not by nationalizing the health care system and putting the government between you and your doctor, but by assuring that every American has access to quality health insurance and choices in health care."

He said the U.S. "has an exceptional history of one generation passing on to the next generation a more prosperous and stronger country, but that tradition is being put at risk."

Well, I hope our children and our future generations will forgive us, because we sure are allowing them to be screwed royally by the socialist agenda of bHo and his tax cheats.

I know it makes me feel sorry for them, but at least mine is aware of what bHo is doing and is saving money hand over fist, because she is not depending on the gov't to take care of her since she'll be one of the shrinking productive people of our society that will have to support the ever continuing growing population of dead beats and ne'er do wells.

The most onerous development that I've seen and/or read so far regarding the "Stimulus Spending Package" is that our legislators passed ir without so much as perusing first and did so at the behest of President Obama.

Very reminiscent of how once Hitler "convinced" the German legislature to pass his legislation, legislation that ultimately put him in the position to declare himself and be confirmed by that same legislative body as President for Life.

Blind obedience and willing ignorance to the agenda of the reigning party's "head" is the formula for tyranny and the dismantling of our Freedom, Democracy and Constitution. And we have a Congress under the control of such people and a very big portion of the populace have no problem with this.

I truly fear for my family and my child these days seeing the dark future that seems to be headed our way.

Take the time to read "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by William Shirer, After reading it, I am struck by the compelling similarities to our situation and the ascension from the Wiemar Republic. :worried:

Now Congress appears ready to pass an Obama administration plan that could create mandatory public service requirements for all American youth, fulfilling a campaign promise. Mandatory Voluntary Serrvice? Now if that ain't a conflict of terms, I don't know what would be. This just cheapens public service by mandating it.

JMHO while I can still voice it.

I took a class with that title in college, and read that book as a requirement.

The boys on wall street wanted this bailout, that's why they did the 'Wahhhh' the first time it failed to pass. Now, it's passed, but they're crying again because nothing has really happened but hope. Geithner still has some 15 positions underneath him that remain unfilled.

As for the Weimar, yes there are some similarities, but I don't see us losing a crushing combat type war any time soon.

Don't forget- those boys on wall street were dumb and arrogant, but they were smart enough to dump off most of that toxic junk to other countries. There are other countries hurting much more than we are, financially, militarily and demographically. All we have to do is open up the US Visa spicket to hard working foreigners who don't take life for granted and don't expect their own personal hunk of government cheese to be handed to them. What's a country like Japan going to do to climb out of the crisis? What about China- Are they going to stop buying dollars and buy Euro's?

The days of the free handouts are coming to an end. This might have been the last hurrah.

I don't see a crushing war either, it was the economics, I was talking about, but turning on the Visa spicket would do the trick, but I'm really not sure bHo wants that type of hard working individual right now.

I hope you're right about the free hand outs, but a tax rebate to people who don't pay taxes is a free handout. If that were to would end, then there may be some hope yet, but I don't see it happening. Those people getting the free money will not be happy if that cheese gets cut off.

The "Visa spicket" is already on. My 20-something hardworking nephew has been working at Lowe's the past 2 years, got health insurance finally through them. When he first started working for them, they wanted him to work MORE hours because they liked his work ethic. This past year they've been progressively cutting back hours on everyone to the point he couldn't afford his 1-bedroom apartment anymore-had to go find another in a more desperate part of the city, can barely keep food on the table and antique pickup in running order.

Now Lowe's is bringing in lower-paid immigrant workers from over the border (my mom told me last night) and my nephew thinks he's about to get laid off/fired so they can take his job and give it to the other people who will take even less money for the job. He's looking for a new job before he loses this one. He's not on food stamps-yet. Beware of tagging everyone in need as layabouts-it's a stereotype and very unfair to those who are trying and doing their best to keep noses above water and still drowning.

Nephew has his mechanics licence but can't afford the tools even if there were a job out there, that's why he's been working at Lowe's. I told my mom last night to tell him I'll borrow from my TSP to buy his tools for him if he will go after a mechanic job.

alevin,

You should know by know from reading my posts over the past few years, what and who I consider "layabouts" and if I'm going to have to put in a disclaimer everytime I express my opinion, so as not to get someone's nose out of joint, then I'll just stop voicing my opinion, cause sometimes the nit-picking really gets old fast.

I'm sorry for your nephew and hope things work our for him.
