The community that I live in has a 2 BR 2 Bath Rancher for sale, approximately 2 blocks from my house. They were asking (believe it or not) $50k. Seeing this as an opportunity for
someone, I began to think; Why not my family ! Long story short, The Woo needs a home of her own and my son needs to be a Home Owner (at long last). I put in a offer on the
home and it was accepted. $42,000 and I can't believe it. In order to better their lives, I submitted my TSP-70 (Full Withdraw) today. After taxes, We'll have just enough to rent a
U-Haul ! ! Obviously, my TSP Account will be no more ! The bright side is my Family will have two Fully Paid Off Homes (mine and puppy's). The downside is also obvious ! No more
TSP, IFT's, Trackers, Second Guessing, Crashes or Headaches ! Alas, my time here will be limited, even more then it is already. I just can't bring myself to say it's over. So I won't !
 
Congratulations you are a Great Man looking out for your kids, now they will have a paid off home that's a big one and you are a Wonderful Father! Way to go SB!
 
Not only admirable, but down-right respectable.

Squalebear, not having a TSP account will defintely get your mind free to focus on other things.....like the shortest distance to walk to see the Woo!

But please feel free to come by and share your grandfatherly wisdom with us. Congrats!

Master Jedi, The Force has moved you in many wondrous ways and many are better for your masterful training. But there are many new apprentice that may see the Dark Side without you wisdom and guidance. You have reached the enlightened state that we all strive for within the Force. Master, there would be a great disturbance in the Force if you were to move on.
 
Most fav'rite bear, well done! What a huge thing to do, it will never be forgotten by those who benefit from your generosity and foresight. Way to keep your loved ones close while enabling them to have their own space too. You and Lady are two of a kind in the retiree world, putting tsp eggs into tangibles that improve quality of life for all involved. She still comes back to visit, hope you will too.

Woo's Castle. You didn't think it would look like a $42k home, did you ? It appraises for $70k and thats at current market conditions. Can you imagine it's value in 9 years or so.

Congrats SB! That was one on those "Carpe Diem" moments we are faced with in our lifetimes! Great choice! Just remember us and visit often!:)
 
Ah, Mr. Huggable Bear, I hope we still meet occasionally on the MB, but I know you'll not be sorry for trading "I only have one IFT left" for "can I walk over to play with Woo for a bit?"!!
