Speculation: When Border Security Becomes Domestic Power

So- can somebody explain why ICE Agents need guns?

Seriously.

I have heard now of 9 shootings by ICE of US citizens or other non criminal actors.

I have yet to hear of a single time when an “illegal alien”- especially not one that has no criminal record, shot and killed any ICE agents.

Not in suburban towns inside the USA.

So why do they need guns to start with?
And masks?

Why not let them drive around unarmed and pick up the people they are trying to pick up, without resorting to bullets.

When the score is tied 9-9, I’ll consider rethinking. But as of today, I see far more harm than help by arming ICE and Border Patrol anywhere other than directly on or 5 miles within the border.

Note- if you are a federal employee on TDY, the locals are not happy and make a lot of noise. Going to keep them up late.

Here, a group is outside the Minneapolis Hilton, where ICE agents and other DHS’rs are staying tonight. The locals aren’t happy.

18 U.S. Code § 3

Whoever, knowing that an offense against the United States has been committed, receives, relieves, comforts or assists the offender in order to hinder or prevent his apprehension, trial or punishment, is an accessory after the fact.

Except as otherwise expressly provided by any Act of Congress, an accessory after the fact shall be imprisoned not more than one-half the maximum term of imprisonment or (notwithstanding section 3571) fined not more than one-half the maximum fine prescribed for the punishment of the principal, or both; or if the principal is punishable by life imprisonment or death, the accessory shall be imprisoned not more than 15 years.

Protest? Fine.
Wave flags? Sure.
Chant, sing, march in an orderly manner to promote you opinion? All about it.

But the second she used her car to block attempts of the agents to perform their mission, they broke the law. Everything after that was more charges on top of it.
Pretending that the vehicle is not a weapon in that instance is wrong.

The manner in which she decided to drive was reckless at best and in that moment, her car became a weapon under her control. That car was stationary and I'm trying to understand why the agent should assume she'd floor it with him in front of it. Once the passenger entered the vehicle and yelled "drive, drive," and ran over the agent, the situation.
The driver became an immediate threat to those around her.

She had the right to be there but not block traffic. From the one video she had traffic blocked but not the whole road. Cars were getting around her. ICE could have gotten around her if they needed to. It's not ICE's responsibility to get her to move her car if it is blocking traffic that is a local police issue. They can ask nicely and if she refuses call the police. The one ICE officer escalated the whole situation when he aggressively approached the car grab the door and swore at her to get out of the car. At this point she is not a threat, the ICE officer is, and she backs the car up I assume to get away from his aggressive behavior. At the moment she is backing her car up the other ICE officer walks in front of her car and his weapon is drawn. I'm not sure in that split second if see saw the other ICE officer or not but he should not have been in front of her car. PERIOD. That officer put himself in harm's way. We will never know if she saw the officer in front of her car. The whole situation was escalated by ICE.
