Are you retired, in the military, or just a civilian in the federal govt.?

I'm an Air Traffic Controller in Little Rock, AR. Been in the FAA for 3 years, and love my job!

Ask me anything, but tell me what you do too.

I'm Retired FAA-Airways Facility (old term)that catered to ATC and kept their stuff running so they could do their job..:D

Seriously, AF and AT was always a symbiotic relationship and we needed each other to do our jobs..

I'm now working full time as a contractor with a GOV contracted engineering firm.

BTW Caw..I'm your neighbor over here in OKC..Next time you come to town for training, look me up at MMAC..PM me first and I'll give you direction as to where you can find me...we'll do lunch.

What do I do for a living? Manage my TSP so that it will last out my retirement.

What did I retire from? Well, in the simplest terms, I was tasked with finding a happy medium between businesses who thought they could do whatever they wanted to in our national parks, and National Park Service employees who thought that businesses should be locked out and electric wire strung around the park boundaries.

And I got to do my job everywhere from Hawaii Volcanoes to Statue of Liberty, from Denali to Big Bend and lots of national parks in between. I retired in 2008, then again in 2009 and 2010. They kept bringing me back until I did it right!

I COULD tell you what I do for you while employed by the U.S. government.

But if I did, then I'd have to show you one of these "flashy" things-

I've been with NASA 36 years and USAF for four years before that, 40 years government service so far. I have held many positions while at NASA. Currently I am an Facility Operations Specialist and I oversee the contractor that maintains the high voltage systems on the facility (138,000 volts down to 2400 volts).

Kewl didnt know we have some AT & AF guys here. I did physical security for 4 years at the Chicago TRACON, then 3 more at the Great Lakes Regional HQ before going Active Duty Army (currently).
