I'm not ready to go dance on the roof until I see a sustained rally. Higher highs, higher lows, and the trend to the upside. Until then short the rallies cuz they have to prove themselves.

Nice trade! Waiting for settled funds so I can back into the action again...

Thanks, have not sold yet. I'm hoping tomorrow will be at the least flat and I will hold over the week end and hope some French trader makes the news again. LOL Three day weekend will make many nervous.:worried: I would be if I was long.

Jon,

I gave up guessing how the day will end a while back. Way to wild on a daily time frame. The media and Fed will hose ya every time also. Ride the trend and don't be to greedy.

Yes sir. BS & CW were tips of icebergs. The corporate conglomerate "book cooking" is about to reach critical mass. There will be many swords to fall on. Feel free to hide and watch.

TSP: 100% G Fund / Roth: SDS @ $65 and $64. Both STOPs are $62.50 until I see the morning futures.

I am looking at $68 for a LIMIT SELL to be conservative but would really like $69. Damn greed. :D

Unsettled Funds - Trading in Cash Accounts

Interpretations of Regulation T, which govern how trades are paid for, state that funds from liquidations in cash accounts will not be available to pay for purchases until the settlement date of the sell.

Credit balances in a cash account may be used for purchases.
  • If the account has settled funds, there are no restrictions as to what may be purchased.
  • If the credit balance is a result of an unsettled sale of securities, certain restrictions may apply.
  • Unsettled proceeds from existing long positions can be used to purchase additional securities as long as the new purchase is not sold prior to the settlement date of the original sale that generated the proceeds used to finance the purchase.
  • If it is sold prior to the settlement date of the funding sale without additional funds being deposited, it will be considered a free ride under Federal Reserve Regulation T.
For example, if you sell a security on Monday the 1st, you can use the proceeds to make a purchase prior to the settlement date of Thursday the 4th. However, if you make a purchase before Thursday the 4th then sell that new position before the settlement of Monday's sale, you will then be required to deposit funds to pay for the purchase. If you purchase on Thursday the 4th, you may place a sell at anytime you wish, since the purchase was made with settled funds.

Mutual Funds and Fixed Income Securities can only be purchased with existing or settled funds.

Waiting for fund to settle. (3 days)

Here is the deal. Even in TSP it take 3 days to "settle" a stock buy or sell. That is one of the reasons they are pitch'n a bitch.

In your private account you will see that your funds will be waiting for settlement after you make a buy. It will be three days to settle. You can sell while you wait for the buy settlement to laps but you will not be able to re-buy anything until the new sell settles for three days.

I am glad to announce that I opened an IRA account yesterday at Scottrade. Have to wait for some funds to roll-in. But I will need your continued support, so that I can rise to a level of competency and profitability. Tia.

I'm not making a argument for them. I just stating that there is a industry wide 3 day settlement rule and it can be fudged.

Not going to make a market prediction as I will embarrass myself. Also will likely place a limit order at lunch based on market action. I do not want to hold over weekend.

Initial jobless claims came in hot and the spinning will begin. Options X in this morning and I do not fully understand it but I do know you will see a lot of volume until it gets settled out. After that will likely be repositioning.

There really is no good news and the charts are broken. We could be forming a bottom or we could be consolidating before the bottom drops out. My plan is to play the down trend on each rally. I certainly did not expect to fill both my orders on the first day. Guess that shows I am a amateur or the market is volatile or both.

Setting a limit order of $68 at this point would probably be the best thing to do but I am going for $69.

Show,
Help me understand the language. I understand you are holding TSP in the G fund. Are you buying SDS by placing a limit buy order at the specified price or are you short SDS at that price? Right now in my Palm Treo I have no access to charts and price. Tia.

TSP: 100% G Fund / Roth: SDS @ $65 and $64. LIMIT ORDER @ $69 and $70 respectively.

Show-me,

How do you determine your stops? I see that your two SDS buys have different stops.

Right now I own SDS @ 65 and 64, I am waiting for it to go up to my limit sell price. I removed my stop for now cuz I think we will sell off this afternoon.

Two prices cuz I have two account. Mine and my wifes.

2:35 pm : The major indices climb to their best levels of the session. The New York Fed has announced modifications to its new Term Securities Lending Facility (TSFL). The TSFL auctions will now allow schedule 2 collateral, instead of the schedule 1 collateral previously proposed. Schedule 2 collateral will now include collateralized mortgage obligations (CMOs) and AAA rated commercial mortgage-backed securities
In other words, the Fed will be lending banks highly liquid Treasury securities in exchange for less liquid assets. Banks will now be able to use a wider range of collateral than previously announced. The first auction will take place on March 27.
