I am new here. I have really gotten interested since my TSP lost 50% a while back. I decided I could not just sit back and 'trust' the generall advice that is out there. So here I am, to learn about and manage my TSP more diligently. Any advice is welcome

Thanks, Catherine:blink:

Good to have you!! I think we all have been there at one point or another. Great people, great info, stick around!!

Welcome Puckmama. You can't buy the information you get here at any price. Its "must have" for us in the TSP. Stick around and post your thoughts and questions. We learn from each other. Post enought and you will become a Hall of Fame member.

For entertainment, check out "The Lounge". After using this site for over a year, I recently discovered it. The music videos are excellent and we owe Buster a big Thank You for starting it.

Yes, welcome!
I would think Puckmama is a mother who hauls field hockey kids & equipment around, and probably is their Team Coach.:D

Puckmama - among the other things you do here, be sure to read the daily blogs, sometimes there are two, and usually at least two over the weekend. Check out Tracker's recent IFT's, and, above all, post any questions or comments when you think of them! Oh, yeah, you might want to review the Rule & Regulations; or go to burrocrat & get one of those `get out of jail free' cards he has !!;) He has a special thread - Just For That !!!
-enjoy -

Welcome and Good Luck,

The advice here is free but as I tell everyone, look for people who are in your "range" of investing styles.

Set the goal, look for like souls, and the Autotracker can help you gauge the styles of most here.

I know a few of my friends follow just the AT. And they all love sentiment survey right now. That gauge has been fruitful. 10% (after today:sick:)

Good Luck!

So I think I must be a bit obtuse here. Perhaps I need a little more education than I have been able to get from reading threads and blogs. So I dont understand why my daily returns are negative for everyday since I joined.

I would think that if I had 100% in the F fund, and the F fund had a positive return for a given day, then I should have a positive return on my account for that day, correct???

But I am not seeing that in my funds.

So, I did an IFT hyesterday to 100% G. I would expect that my returns will map to returns (+/-) that the G returns, right?

What is going on here that I dont get?

C

p.s. Ice Hockey ... I am a rink rat, and both of my boys are big rink rats as well.

Bring the NHL to Houston!!!!!

PM,
I do not play the F fund but it has tracked lower the last 5 trading sessions.
If you IFT'd to G yesterday you will not see any added value until todays close.
Also TSP does not (IMHO) offer real returns, only value. Market goes up your shares are worth more, market goes down your shares are worth less. The TSP benefits are Tax Deferment and Govt Match.
Returns to me are something that pays me for owning it. Savings Account, CD's, Bonds, Stock = Interest or Dividends (Returns) IMHO.

Diversification is important. You will find lots of people on here that will point you in the right direction.
