Panic Button - Cool New Feature!

If you work in an environment in which someone is apt to look over your shoulder and wonder why you are looking at non-work related websites.....assuming TSPtalk is one of those.....the panic button is assigned a website that would be acceptable to the scum(sorry) peaking over your shoulder.......when you see a person coming that fits the bill then hit the panic button, and wah-lah you are on a company acceptable website.

Can someone help me out here? What in the world is the "panic" button, how do you use it, and what is it for? Oh -- never mind. I see the info now. I'm a bit slow today...

Wonderful idea, could have used it in my 'employee' days. I had a couple of bosses who didn't care what you surfed on that government computer as long as you were on break. But I had a couple of bosses who thought if you had time for a break then you must be under-worked! That panic button would have come in handy under those regimes!

Tic Tacs....brilliant!!....One problem,..That doesn't work against............Neuman!!!(said like Jerry).......he eats them before they shake.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I hit it twice already trying to hit the EDIT feature!! Might have to slow down on the clicks until I get used to it, good stuff though.
I just tried to move it to the right of the quote button, but it seemed to make the panic button a little less noticeable, hidden between a couple of icons. It might be a little less accessible that way. So I moved it back.

Let me know if it does become a hinderance - interfering with the edit button, and we'll try something new.

Thanks....now can you add a 10 ft perimeter detection system that automatically activates the panic button.....you never know unless you ask!!!!.....thanks again

Hi eveyone -

I have installed a new feature that some of you may find handy. It is called:

The Panic Button!

If you are ever on the message board, reading or writing a post, and someone approaches your desk who may not appreciate that you are on a message board for one reason or another, you can hit "The Panic Button" and it will take you to a predetermined website of your choice.

To set it up, go to:

- Your UserCP and click on your edit options link in the left menu.

- Scroll down to the table that says, "Thread Display Options" (just above the Date & Time Options) and set the Panic Button - ON/OFF Switch to "On".

- In the Panic Button - URL Jump field, put the web address (URL) of the webpage you would like to be taken to, including the "http://".

Some examples: http://www.google.com, http://www.tsp.gov, or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boss's_Day

Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page, and that's it!

You will now see a "Panic Button" on every post next to the quote and edit buttons. When you click on it, off you go to your default panic website.

To turn it off, just go back into the edit options page, and choose "Off".
