OK so now i'm irate!!!

We know that if you are in the top 1% economic bracket and have the cash you can have access to some of the few top surgeons in the world (Mayo Clinic, John Hopkins).

Actually, anyone in the service area can have Mayo Clinic care (Mn Care). It is a also BCBS provider, and as such is available to most everyone, even FEHB employees. Even federal inmates often receive Mayo care. Don't know about John Hopkins, though.

And CO, Glad your wife is doing better. When we have these problems, even at Mayo, there is usually an office of Patient Advocate you can call. They are employed by the hospital as a fail safe advocate. On several occassions in several different care systems, we have used these services to great effect and benefit.

Thanks guys I have cooled off a bit and actually prayed about it.

She's still in pain but the doctor that did the gastric bypass is seeing her early tomorrow. I'm a fan of the urgent care's out there. Typically I will only go to the ER in dire cases and when she called the urgent care place today they told her to go to the ER. I do thank god that they saw it unnessicary to admit her...as long as they didn't do so wrongly. Thank you guys for your comments and for helping me cool down a bit.

That's wonderful man ;)

Nothing like doing the 'right thing' once you've cooled down and said a good prayer.

Gosh ~~ I've had too many appologies to make ...even on this site

'Chest Pains' is a RED FLAG -- they told her right.

Anyway -- hope all is better

You guys have wealth envey real bad. My insurance paid for the top surgeon at the top hospital in the Midwest according to US News and World report. You and the other guy need to get off the Kool Aid. We have the best health care system in the world, but it can be made better without Universal Health Care.

But we also know (even if we don't like to admit it) that for 99% of us...it's a crap-shoot...sometimes you get a good doctor and sometimes you don't. Just like in Canada, Germany, Japan...for basic care they are no better or worse.

Anyway...hope everything works out well with your wife.

Most important thing is to get a second opinion. It is generally covered by all insurance for a reason.:D

He is having a rare instance with his wife. It is frustrating and you sometimes have to be firm but calm.

I have been in and out of my primary care, ambulatory care, emergency room, oncologist, and five different hospitals for inpatient and outpatient surgery for myself and family in the last 5 years.

I have thyroid cancer, colon polyps, knee surgery. One son had to major test that I would talk about and the other has foot problems and a broken back from a year ago. That does not include the minor things like eye exams, dermatologist, braces, and my resent double root canals. We have all had outstanding care with some bumps. Doctors and nurses are human and make errors. It is your job to make sure they treat you well and get a second opinion.

Make sure you get a second opinion on serious problems. And, get them in a different community. Doctors and nurses are human and make errors. It is your job to make sure they treat you well and get a second opinion. Call and complain but do not freak out.

I had a radiologist spot a tumor in my neck back in '98, marked it on the film but said nothing in the final report. My second opinion Doc found it.

I guarantee you that our health care is the best you will find and to say other countries like Cuba and Canada have better is ridiculous and shows that those people are haters and misinformed or have a agenda. They know not what they talk about. Talk to someone who in in and out of the system a lot, like me.

My grandmother died under German health care and I know to many people in Canada that have nothing good to say about Canadian health care.

My wife was misdiagnosed twice in one year before a 3rd did a battery of tests and found she had Hashimoto's disease...for which she now has proper medication for...thankfully.

So much for the myth of the US having the best medical care in the world.

We already know we have one of the worst medical accessibility systems (aka coverage) in the G-20.

Never miss an opportunity to bash the U.S.A. do you? That said, I'm glad your wife was ultimately correctly diagnosed and treated. I wonder if those socialized medicine countries would have covered a third battery of tests in one year? I've heard it can take six months to get stuff like that done in some of those countries.

CO, our prayers are with you and your wife.

CO, Best wishes to you wife.

My experience with my dad at the local hospital has been AAA+++

Doctors,,,, I really don't trust them. I know there are many good ones, but if they write a prescription for the wife or I, I'm on the internet checking it out. Same thing with surgery, by the time they tell me what they want to do to correct the problem I've already have researched it and can ask legitimate questions.
The best to your wife.

Callme,

I think I'd just cool my jets and realize she could have been admitted which would mean other complications. See what kind of night she has and if fine just chock up the day toward experience. Wait until you get the bill for what your insurance doesn't pay - then you might have reason to raise the roof.

I hope she is well too and I agree with Buster from personal experience.

I hope your wife is okay...

But I hear ya..pisses me off too...I now go to an Immediate Care clinic near by (which I like, because you get seen almost instantly, no appointment BS and the co-pay is $25.00 just like for the Family Doctor's office visit).. and then if need, they will summons an ambulance, and so it seems, if you arrive to the ER in a lighted chariot

, you get better and quicker attention...
