The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was down 0.15 per cent after the first half hour of trade, with losses in energy stocks weighing on the market. CMC Markets chief market strategist Michael McCarthy said the possibility of a Trump presidency in the forthcoming US election, combined with a drop in energy stocks and weakness in base metals were weighing on the ASX.
