Crude oil futures took a breather Monday and were marginally lower as investors looked ahead to a busy week of economic news.

Nymex front-month oil futures settled at $89.78 a barrel Monday, down 35 cents, or 0.4%. Brent oil futures settled at $106.20, down 27 cents.
Analysts said the markets were likely to trade in a choppy fashion this week until this week's major economic events play out. In a three-round whammy of big-ticket economic news, markets are eyeing the conclusion of a Federal Open Markets Committee meeting Wednesday, a European Central Bank meeting Thursday and new U.S. jobs figures on Friday.

I just got this email- AND I filled up at lunch today, as I spotted some stations jumping .20 cents here locally today.

$3.89-$3.99

[TD="colspan: 2"]Gasoline spot prices have risen sharply today, likely as reports surface of a new crude oil pipeline problem. Since July 25, spot prices have risen 61c/gal. Due to this, we want to warn you that stations will be paying more for their gasoline after the market closes today. Because of this, we expect prices in Michigan to rise in the next 48 hours to $3.89-$3.99. We peg the odds of the hike at 85%.

Thanks,

The Gasbuddy Team

Note sure what's going on. I have not heard of any new midwest crude pipeline issue.

I'll see if I can dig up any intel on it.
