Oil Slick Stuff

Yikes... been away from you guys for around 4-5 days. Just opened up my morning paper (aka TspTalk and the Oil Slick Stuff Thread) and, holy crap, in reading Viva's last entry, do I really even want to look back and read what weird world you guys entered while I was away? Geez guys, were you doing shrooms or something?

Anyways, Norm... what's it gonna be this week for oil? Middle East strife? Speculators? Frog farts in Indonesia?

Sadly(well, for us), Norm is on his way or in Spain for a month. So, oil will probably spike now that no one is watching them quite like nnuut did...

With Norm in Spain for the month we will be missing his daily oil charts.

The price of gas around here varies by as much as 30 cents a gallon. I filled up this morning for $3.71 but I have seen it as low as $3.68 and as high as $3.98 all within 1.5 miles.

The gasbuddy link on the very first page of the oil slick thread is awesome. If you have it on your phone, when there's huge price gaps like you're talking about, can save you some $$$$.

If Norm isn't logging in, we should somehow try to prank him when he gets back. Crap, April fools was 2 days ago!!! Oh well...

Meh, you didn't miss much. Viva commented that Hunger Games might be the world the Left if looking for and Buster called FAAM a socialist messiah worshiper because he joked about W being a doofus.

Energy as whole sector put in a temp. bottom last week but has been increasing again. A lot of talking heads trying to scare us about prices...on the other hand, many articles I read indicate oil will largely start dropping from this range.

Price hasn't impacted CPI much yet. Another interesting inflation measure to look at is the Billion Price Project. It's a pretty cool project:

In other words, business as usual, eh? Never a dull moment with Buster on the prowl :D. Haven't met FAAM yet, welcome to the board!!!!

I haven't liked CPI as a measure for quite some time now. They keep moving the bar. Your mileage may vary.

I do like that project so far from just reading the "cover page" (or whatever you call the first page of a website). Will read more later. Thanks.

Price should drop if the Dollar continues to go up, along with the Market.
I´m online again because the wife is playing BINGO, I HATE BINGO!!!

Pump price for gasoline locally dropped another 3 cents overnight to $3.85 state average. Lowest in area is $3.78 this morning.

By Grant Smith - Apr 11, 2012 2:34 PM GMT+0200
Oil rose from the lowest close in almost two months in New York after a European Central Bank official signaled the lender may act to stem the spread of the region’s debt crisis.
Futures gained as much as 0.7 percent as the euro strengthened against the dollar after ECB Executive Board member Benoit Coeure suggested that the bank may restart bond purchases for Spain. Crude declined yesterday after an industry report showed U.S. stockpiles rose for a third week. The Energy Department will release its inventory report later today.
