Well gas around me was dropping down as low as $2.09 a gallon. We even had a brief fall to $1.98 (that lasted about 4 hours). Tuesday going into work gas was between $2.29 and $2.09. Going home it jumped to $2.49.

Averaging around $2.15 a gallon around here but it's all over the place some as high as $2.30.;swear

The cheapest regular gas is $3.39/gallon and ranging up to $4.19. We're usually about $0.50/gallon higher than the rest of U.S., but this is ridiculous.

State Taxes are driving up the price of gas, Georgia just raised gas taxes! California has the record, you Californians should fire all of those liberals.

I guess New Mexico's gas tax should start going up. My son says there is so many Californians moving to Las Cruses and Alamogordo NM that he can't find anything priced in his price range other than houses that need massive repair.:(

I believe Pennsylvania and Connecticut now have higher gas taxes but other factors contribute to California's high prices (mismanagement of funds just being one of those -- staying away from the * factor here ya know?).

I lived in Cruces from '00 - '03. Affordable back then. Then it started making so many "top places to retire" lists that, from what I hear, it got toooooooo crowded. Weird to hear that about Alamogordo, though. I thought it still had a small town vibe to it. Haven't been back since '03 --- much has changed I guess.

Yeah strange about Alamogordo. Good memories about the place from a TDY to Holloman back in the day, the '70s day that is. I am getting so old. Is there still a place called Opal's Lounge on the west side?

Prices here all over the place too. $2.69 to $4.49.

Price shock today:

Gas prices to rise (25c-50c) across Midwest

Source: Times of Northwest Indiana

Filling your tank suddenly became a lot costlier because of an unplanned outage at the BP Whiting Refinery.

A 250,000 barrel-per-day crude distillation unit went down because of a mechanical breakdown, and it's not immediately clear how long it will take to fix, according to sources familiar with the situation.

... Gasbuddy.com estimates the outage likely will drive up retail gas prices by 25 to 50 cents per gallon during the next week across the Midwest. Market gasoline prices shot up almost immediately because of concerns that the largest refinery in the Midwest wouldn't produce as much gasoline.

... Retail gas prices reportedly jumped up Tuesday by as much as 40 cents a gallon in Northwest Indiana. The average price in the Gary metro was $2.60 a gallon as of Tuesday afternoon, according to Gasbuddy.com.
One refinery where "somebody breaks something" and suddenly pump prices go up 50 cents in one day?

Hmmmmmmm....
