Oil Slick Stuff

Nnut, have you been trading oil or anything in the sector etf, OIH? Trying to position myself for a good entry point.
No Sir, don't trade oil, but I thought it was a good time to get in a short time ago when it was below $50 a barrel for Sweet Lite Crude. I think Robo dabbles in oil, not sure? You might check with him?

Regular UL $1.94 to $2.09 around Central Georgia, mostly over $2 a gallon. :(
Last week prices broke down to The mid to upper $1.80s that was nice! Guess the big oil guys think they're not making enough money? Our buddy Saudi Araiba fixed that when they announced that they were cutting production, AGAIN? The cold weather has contributed to the rise in energy prices, naturally, it happens every winter.:notrust:

Look, Chevron is going broke, Yeah, right!:suspicious:

Chevron's profit hurt by natural gas prices

No. 2 oil company says net income dropped to $3.77 billion as oil, natural gas prices decreased during the fourth quarter.

February 2 2007: 9:33 AM EST

NEW YORK (Reuters) -- Chevron Corp., the No. 2 U.S. oil company, said Friday its fourth-quarter profit fell, pulled down by weaker natural gas prices.
Net income in the quarter dropped to $3.77 billion, or $1.74 a share, from $4.14 billion, or $1.86, in 2005.

By Ciara Linnane, MarketWatch

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures were higher early Friday, heading back toward $58 a barrel as forecasts suggested the cold snap in the northeastern U.S. will continue well into February.
Crude for March delivery was up 30 cents at $57.60 a barrel in early electronic trade. On Thursday, the contract rose to its highest level in a month close to $59 before falling back to end the day with a loss.

Don't ya think this will knock the price of oil down a notch?:D

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pennsylvania (AP) -- A new pair of hands pulled Punxsutawney Phil from his stump this year, so it was only fitting that the groundhog offered a new prediction.
Phil did not see his shadow on Friday, which, according to German folklore, means folks can expect an early spring instead of six more weeks of winter.

$57.73 a barrel at 13:25 +.43 up a little, vascillating:suspicious:

One sector that has turned the corner but is so far failing to provide much momentum for blue chips is Energy. Evidently further appreciation in the price of oil is acting as more of an offset than renewed enthusiasm for beaten-down oil stocks is from a leadership standpoint.

By Myra P. Saefong, MarketWatch

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures ended the week Friday with a gain of more than 6% as expectations that a cold snap in the northeastern U.S. will continue into February, political tension in key oil-producing countries and prospects for further energy-demand growth lifted prices past $59 a barrel.

I think it's about time that the US started reaping profits from Irac's oil to pay us back for the war that will free it's people. Looks like our government has no idea about how to do this?

Looking for Iraq's oil windfall

The country, which has one of the largest reserves in the world, could pump 6 million barrels a day or more. But that sure isn't happening now.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Iraqi oil revenue was supposed to cover nearly all the costs of reconstruction.
The county's reserves are on the order of 115 billion barrels and, depending on who does the counting, tied with Iran for the world's second largest behind Saudi Arabia's 264 billion, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Driving on gas - but not gasoline

The Honda Civic GX fills its tank with methane instead of gasoline.

By Peter Valdes-Dapena, CNNMoney.com staff writer
February 2 2007: 5:01 PM EST

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- When my neighbors learned the car I was test-driving was filled with compressed natural gas, the first question many asked was about safety.
"Gasoline is flammable, too, you know," I reminded them.
In fact, compressed natural gas is supposed to be safer than gasoline. In the event the tank is punctured, the escaping gas would rise into the air away from the car, as opposed to puddling on the ground like gasoline.
And the tank on the car I was driving, the 2006 Honda Civic GX, is considerably thicker than one on a standard car. The Civic GX is currently the only natural-gas car.

Saudi price hike surprises

World's largest oil exporter announces March price increase in effort to abide by OPEC cut.

February 5 2007: 7:24 AM EST

LONDON (Reuters) -- Saudi Arabia raised its crude prices for March as the world's largest oil exporter sought to trim supplies to abide by the latest OPEC cut, trade sources said on Monday.
Although a price increase was expected, lifters and traders said they were surprised by its extent compared to February.

Natural gas rallies as weather turns bitterly cold
By Ciara Linnane, MarketWatch
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Natural-gas futures rallied early Monday amid forecasts for bitterly cold weather across the northeastern U.S. in the next five days, pulling crude prices back above the $59-a-barrel level, where they ended last week.

You might think that, but these people may not agree:
You're kidding me, right?
Crude for March delivery may be off its highs, but the commodity came within a nickel of hitting $60/bbl earlier. Oil eclipsing such a psychological barrier will become a bearish factor for stocks and bring its inflationary potential back into focus among policy makers.
