Oil Slick Stuff

Correct.
The oil companies will no longer receive .45 cents a gallon subsidy from the federal government. Instead, that will require the oil company to charge the consumer more for gasoline instead. Then ethanol demand will collapse, as will the price, and I will be buying E85 about .50 cents to .70 cents cheaper a gallon than gasoline will be. We'll see if that's how it works out.
We are the Federal Government, just admit it you are wrong. And then the price of groceries will go down, cheaper feed for cattle, pork, chickens and reduce the price of thousands of food products that contain CORN! No subsidies, cheaper food and better gas mileage! WAKE UP! nerd.gif

Here, take a look at next spring's futures prices for gasoline and for ethanol, WITHOUT the tax credit, or without taxes being added on.

Ethanol has fallen through the floor and will be much cheaper come January and beyond.

Just go to the bottom of the page on the link, here it is if you can't figure out where it is.

My question wasn't "what is the BTU adjusted cost of E85".

My question was "What is the BTU adjusted cost of DIESEL FUEL. ?

If you are going to compare prices not by actual cost, but by some made up BTU calculation that is not related to miles per gallon, then I demand you do the same for the other fuels listed. What is the BTU adjusted cost of Diesel fuel?

Because that's what is going to happen, according to those future charts, come January. Gasoline price will go up, and E85 price will go down. Big time.

I am glad I drive a flex-fuel car, so that I can choose which fuel to use.

Oil futures fall below $100 a barrel

By V. Phani Kumar, MarketWatch
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — U.S. crude-oil futures fell Thursday after the European Central Bank’s president said the European Union treaty prohibits “monetary financing,” crushing hopes that the central bank would step up its bond-buying program to help struggling euro-zone nations.
A stronger U.S. dollar also helped pull oil prices back below $100 a barrel.

The Great Crew Change: Petro-Opportunities for Veterans Abound

While hiring veterans of the U.S. armed forces is hardly a new trend in the oil and natural gas industry, there's probably more opportunity than ever before, due to the explosive growth in the shale sector and the need to replace "Baby Boomers" nearing retirement age.
Opportunities for veterans include:
  • Drilling rig or rig service jobs
  • Transferring skills from related military specialties, such as quality assurance/quality control, mechanic and technician jobs or accounting and administrative jobs
  • Hiring of veterans with direct, prior petro-experience and/or education
"We definitely target the armed forces in our recruiting," said Daryl Hood, Schlumberger North American Technical Recruiting Manager, in an article on the www.recruitmilitary.com website. http://www.rigzone.com/news/article.asp?hpf=1&a_id=113213

Post-Macondo Regulations Change the O&G Industry

Last year marked a turning point in how business in the energy sector is conducted in the United States. While governmental regulatory authorities and operators scrambled to pick up the pieces, offshore business came to a halt.

The Deepwater Horizon accident caused the Interior Department to re-evaluate deep-water drilling procedures. New regulations were implemented hoping to prevent future oil spill incidents and improve the safety and health of the environment and offshore workers.
"The job of ensuring energy companies is following the law and protecting the safety of their workers and the environment is a big one and should be independent from other missions of the agency," Salazar said in a May 2010 U.S. Department of Interior statement announcing the launch of safety and environmental protection reforms to toughen oversight of offshore oil and gas operations.
With this goal in mind, President Obama split the Minerals Management Service, which oversees oil and gas development, in to two parts. The first part, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) will inspect oil rigs and enforce safety, while the other, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Regulation and Enforcement (BOEM) will regulate offshore exploration plans.

Crude Ends With Rally After Choppy Session

Oil futures closed up more than a dollar on Friday, with a late-day rally capping a choppy session whipsawed by mixed signals from Europe and China.
Light, sweet crude for January delivery ended the day up $1.07, or 1.1%, at $99.41 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, bouncing back from Thursday's rout when oil prices lost more than 2%. Brent crude on the ICE futures exchange was up $1.15, or 1.1%, at $108.70 a barrel.
Oil futures bounced up and down throughout the day, crossing the zero line several times, but began surging upward in the last half hour of trading with volume in some minutes reaching as high as eight times normal levels. In the absence of any specific news affecting the market, traders said the rally was likely driven by pre-programmed short covering as prices hit lows on technical charts that triggered buy orders. http://www.rigzone.com/news/article.asp?a_id=113270&hmpn=1

Might help the jobs numbers and stimulate the Market? Now if we can just get that Pipeline coming from Canada. Who in their right (or is it left?) mind would stop construction of that pipeline?
