Oil prices fall as Libya production fears ease

Oil settles below $98 as fears of serious oil disruptions recede; IEA, Saudis stand ready

Chris Kahn, AP Energy Writer, On Thursday February 24, 2011, 3:33 pm
NEW YORK (AP) -- Oil prices dropped Thursday for the first time in nine days after the International Energy Agency said the rebellion in Libya may have cut oil production less than originally feared.
The International Energy Agency said that the violent uprising in Libya has forced oil companies to idle between 500,000 and 750,000 barrels per day of production, or less than 1 percent of global daily oil consumption. That's roughly half of what Italy's Eni, Libya's largest oil producer, estimated earlier Thursday.

And the gas companies can take their profit from raising gas prices before the shortage of production even comes about.

Just deleted just about 70 words of rant on supply and demand.:D

Yes, now you're getting it, but it's really the speculators that are causing the problem, trying to make a buck on us!

Just get your own tank and buy gasoline when it is down or start a local gasoline co-op and buy direct from a distributor.

As a matter of fact, I am for all types of co-ops: food, transportation, insurance, fuel, and car buyers plus any other you can imagine.

It is time to start co-oping and save some money. I suppose if you have enough money, you can just buy stocks in the companies whose products you purchase and if enough other people like them also you will make some of your money that you spend back on the stock.

Oil futures remain below $100 a barrel

By William L. Watts and Sarah Turner, MarketWatch
LONDON (MarketWatch) — Light, sweet crude-oil futures edged higher but held below the $100-a-barrel level on Friday, as energy traders digested moves by Saudi Arabia and others to calm supply worries triggered by turmoil elsewhere in the Middle East and in North Africa.
In the electronic trading session of the New York Mercantile Exchange on Friday, the front-month contract /quotes/comstock/21n!f:cl\j11 (CLJ11 97.48, +0.20, +0.21%) rose 43 cents to trade at $97.71 a barrel.

And I thought the above was bad! Walmart $3.28 and Albertsons $3.17.

So it must of been only 3 days from my last check and oil drops and they still try to increase profit on the old news.

Saudi's picking up Libya's slack.....

yea..I know..Libya crude is the sweetest on the market, but hey, REALLY?

Oil will retreat next week to 85 quickly...when the administration opens up the reserves.

HEAR THAT SIR???

I really hate it when the last time gas got up to levels outside the affordable levels of poverty stricken people and everyone wanted a presidents head on a platter.....but not this one....

Anyway,

$85/bbl will be back soon enough!

I hope it does Frixxx, seems reasonable to me.:)

U.S. stocks gain as Boeing rallies, oil slips

By Kristina Peterson, MarketWatch
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks advanced Friday, snapping three straight days of losses, as shares of Boeing surged and easing fears over supply helped crude-oil prices stabilize. http://markets.usatoday.com/custom/...S&guid={AE4665CC-40ED-11E0-842B-00212804637C}

I thought we mostly import from Canada and Mexico and don't import anything from Libya - but that doesn't matter because the Middle East economies use our crude price for their pricing. So we are forced to ride the Middle East roller coaster even though we aren't in the market.

Anybody have this happen yesterday?

Cheap (comparably speaking) gas station on way to work yesterday:

$3.099 for regular unleaded

On way home from work yesterday:

Wait till you head home tonight.

I saw it at $3.35 yesterday afternoon. An hour ago I came back to the office and passed the same station, that now is at $3.46.
This station was at $3.05 last week.

The way I understand it in MOST States they can only change their price when they receive delivery and the price is higher or lower, then they are allowed to change their price, NOT based on the market price. They must have received delivery twice that day? CROOKS!
