G-8 leaders agree on climate target

Obama, G-8 leaders agree on 2-degree Celsius target on global warming

L'AQUILA, Italy (AP) -- President Barack Obama joined other leaders of the industrialized world Wednesday in backing new targets for battling global warming. But the wealthy nations were unable to persuade leaders of developing countries to commit to reductions of their own, and their cooperation is critical to avoiding the worst effects of climate change. Those IDIOTS...there is enough proof to show that we as pissant humans can't fix the global warming cycle..it is a natural occurrence and ain't nothing we can do to stop it...50 years from now when everything is electric and non-CO2 producing..The globe will still be warming up and greenhouse gases will still be increasing...So all this sacrifice of our life styles and conveniences will have been in vane...

Bah....we need to get off the crude, even if you think global warming is a crock. We've known about NOx pollution for a very very very long time, cars are the big emitters and that stuff is bad in the air.

And we need to get off the coal too, Sulphur Dioxide is just the beginning with what comes out of coal plants! Yum! Arsenic, etc etc! great stuff.

I agree, but we DON'T need to put this terrible burden on our economy when it's on the verge of a DEPRESSION. We do need to get off of the pollutants, but this is something that needs to be done over 40 years NOT 3 years. We will go bankrupt, meaning that we will go the way of RUSSIA. Where is my retirement check, what happened to my Social Security, Why does milk cost $40 a gallon? Along with the other plans this administration has to break our economy, this mismanagement and CAP and TRADE will be the feather that breaks the camels back. Rambling inflation WILL be the beginning of the end. JMHO:cool:
PHEW now I feel better!!:o

I hear your concern and can't argue your point..it is well taken..

But most (not all) of those toxic pollutants have been removed from the Auto exhaust emissions with Catalytic Converters and better tuned engines..the Coal Plants are now using (for the most part) Sulfur free coal and the stacks are using scrubbers to almost purify the emissions..so these issues with Acid rain and other bygone years of toxic pollution is a thing of the past. (thank God)

We need to worry about those stinking Volcanoes..now there you have some MAJOR emissions of TOXIC gases..thousands of times more in quantity than Man could ever produce in all of our entire time on Earth....And yet the Earth recovers each time...funny how nature takes care of herself..and yes, HUMANs are part of nature....

Environmentalists like to point to the polar ice caps and how they are melting to demonstrate global warming. Wasn't there a report out recently that said that volcanic activity at the poles was the real cause of polar ice melts? I remember reading that somewhere.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures rebounded Thursday after having fallen over six straight sessions, as a smaller-than-expected loss from Alcoa and a downtick in first-time jobless claims boosted investor sentiment.
Light sweet crude for August delivery rose $1.32, or 2.2%, to $61.48 a barrel in electronic trading on Globex.

Are Volcanoes Melting Arctic?

Climate Change: While the media scream that man-made global warming is making the North Pole ice-free, another possible cause is as old as the Earth itself. They just have to look deeper.

To the delight of Al Gore and the rest of the Gaia groupies, scientists at the National Snow & Ice Data Center in Colorado are predicting that the North Pole will be completely free of ice this summer. The apocalyptic headlines already are starting to appear."From the viewpoint of science, the North Pole is just another point on the globe, but symbolically it is hugely important," says the center's Mark Serreze. "There is supposed to be ice at the North Pole, not open water."

Hey Norm, looks like crude may not find any support until around $55/bbl... we can only hope, huh? Hope I didn't jinx it.:cheesy:

On a lighter note, I found an outlet for all of Buster's mischief... and he can now direct it towards another website... talk about bad ideas:laugh::laugh:

Below $50 is fine with me!! I think we will reach that in the near future!!:D

Good to hear from you Frixxxx... since you are a currency guy, I guess you've been following the EUR/JPY and how lately it seems to be tracking the indices pretty well. Is this why you say oil is supported? Does that mean that it is supported at current levels or in the current "channel?"

-- I'm only asking because I don't have a grasp of this currency thing and I want to be educated -- not because I want to be flip. But you knew that already :D.

Market Update

11:30 am : Crude oil prices have surrendered early gains and now trade with a 0.8% loss at $59.65 per barrel. Should the loss hold, oil will log its seventh straight loss.
The decline in oil prices hasn't really undercut the energy sector this session, however. Energy stocks, as a group, are up a healthy 1.1%. Energy stocks were up nearly 1.7% at their session high, though.
Still, oil and gas exploration companies are seeing strong gains; they are up 2.3%, collectively. Oil and gas refiners are up 2.3% and oil and gas drillers are up 2.1%.DJ30 -13.68 NASDAQ +3.94 SP500 +1.32 NASDAQ Adv/Vol/Dec 1314/716 mln/1064 NYSE Adv/Vol/Dec 1644/331 mln/1163

Barack Obama

GreenCarReports.com, a partner site to TheCarConnection, carried this story yesterday regarding the new federal economy standards. Editor-in-Chief John Voelcker cleaved through much of the rhetoric to highlight some important points overlooked by many media outlets.
Namely;
- That California retains its rights to set its own standards after 2016.
- That a new energy policy is coming, and that this is code speak for a huge new gas tax.

At the Walmart (Murphy Gas) it dropped another penny ..now at $2.11 (-.03) = $2.08

WOW

The big question for me is when are the oil producers going to cut back on production therfore inducing the rubber band effect where prices swing in the other direction and go too high?
