Unemployment Rate Rises to 7.3% in Shutdown-Skewed October; 204,000 Jobs Added

The economy added 204,000 jobs in October -- more than consensus -- and hiring for September and August were revised up by a combined 60,00, according to the Labor Department. The unemployment rate ticked up to 7.3% from 7.2%. Concerns that the 16-day government shutdown would mar growth appear to be unfounded but Gene Sperling, director of President Obama’s National Economic Council, says the real question is: Will the shutdown have a lasting negative impact on growth?

thank you, thank you very much. it appears i'm much better at games of chance rather than skill.

i need another mug to go with the 4 sock monkeys dreamboatannie sent me for winning the furlough bet. i was going to take a mugshot of my family of sock monkeys and my family of 3 tsptalk mugs, but the one little monkey looked so sad without a mug.

i was hoping for the new stainless one because i already have the travel tumbler. maybe tom will let me pay the difference for the upgrade or else take it as a credit towards a tsptalk ball cap someday.
