North Korea's Kim Jong Il dies at 69

So who will be the winner in the power struggle, the son or the military?

Yet another dead dictator.

North Korea is too much a basket case to worry about. My guess is that - like Libya – their weapons systems are too complicated to sustain once the chaos deepens. I’m actually thinking this may be a buying opportunity in our funds.

Also, I’m going out on a limb and guess that Russia is behind the strange occurrences in Iran. They took the money, now they sabotage the product.

Strange world we find ourselves in. Maybe we should just talk to someone…

I wonder if they are gonna stuff and mount him under glass. If they do I sure hope they find a plastic surgeon to fix him up because he was about the FUGLIEST dictator there ever was. Well, maybe Noriega but it would be a real photo finish. Now the question is if Sonny Boy has enough sense to figure out he's not a god like daddy. I'm betting not.

I'm getting that the product of Il's loins is just as much of a wack job as his father was...

True or false?

How about Kaddafi?

What a name as well. It reminds me of that 80's classic movie "Sixteen Candles". What was that exchange student's name, Long Duck Dong????? All joking aside this dude was a real POS and the world will be a better place after he's worm chow..........................................

Are they afraid they won't get their monthly allotted pound of rice and crock of Kimchi if they don't play along...?

North Korea mourns dead leader, son is "Great Successor"
SEOUL (Reuters) - North Koreans poured into the streets on Monday to mourn the death of leader Kim Jong-il and state media hailed his untested son as the "Great Successor"...

Chinese state television showed North Koreans crying in the capital of Pyongyang. KCNA reported people were "writhing in pain" after losing the man who in 1994 succeeded his father Kim Il-sung, the North's first -- and officially eternal -- president as leader of the totalitarian state.
An "endless stream" of soldiers, working people and students visited a massive memorial of Kim Il-sung in central Pyongyang mourning the death of the "Dear Leader" until past midnight. "They are weeping bitterly out of self-reproach and regret that they failed to keep Kim Jong-il in good health," KCNA said.

I've seen the oldest son interviewed on Japanese news from time to time. He also inherited the fat toadiness of his forefathers, but seems to have his wits about him. Foreign educated, speaks fluent English, accepts the wealth of his father but denounces the politics. He's a rich jet-setter, but doesn't pretend to be otherwise. The younger brother was also foreign educated, but always regarded as somewhat of a dimwit from what I've heard. I think the Party has a plan in place and has been running the show for quite some time now. They just need a face for the banners in the town squares. There shouldn't be any reason for anything to change, unless there is a behind the scenes power struggle.

North Korea Releases Fake "News" Footage of People Supposedly Mourning Kim Jong Il

Kim Jong Il may have eschewed free markets, civil rights, and even FOOD for the citizens of North Korean, but the man pulled out all the stops when it came to acting classes!
How else do you explain this video?
Supposedly taken just after Kim Jong Il died, the footage - released by the isolationist, communist cesspool's state-run media - shows millions mourning the "Dear Leader."
A couple of theories here: 1. They actually just saw a screening of The Notebook, and the government passed it off as a response to Kim's death, or 2. Armed military personnel promised to let them eat this week if they put on a good show.

North Korea is 1984 realized.
It's strange to think that it's possible to control information like that in this day and age.

As for the son: The 3rd generation almost always messes up what the 1st generation created. But in this case, I think the military just takes over (if they haven't already) and tell sonny-boy to enjoy the fat life. Can you believe there are actually people in the world who chose to live there?

Watching the Japanese news - apparently the Japanese Coast Guard rescued a boat with 3 North Koreans that washed up on one the remote islands of Okinawa. It will be interesting to see if more of these incidents start occurring now.
