nnuut's Account Talk

I heard someone mention today that a suggestion has been made to eliminate the capital gains tax for three years to provide investment incentive. People who reinvest their dividends as a sacrifice instead of spending the cash should also get a tax break - they did that back in the late 1970s with utility stocks when they were so hated - I owned a portfolio with about 35 utilities and benefited from my dividend reinvestments

I've heard 2 years mentioned several times, but I agree with you that those of us who re-invest their divvies should also get a tax break, hell, everyone who didn't play by the rules are getting money, so those of us who were responsible and didn't live beyond our means should catch a break. I'm tired of the dumb, greedy and deadbeats getting my tax dollars.

One can only hope, that our blind hog will find that acorn.

There are fewer and fewer places to earn any interest - we are having a yield shortage. I actually anticipated this situation and is one reason I sank $629K into stocks the past few months. My investment income will increase with every passing month going forward even if some of my stocks decrease or suspend their dividends I'm still ahead as compared to CD opportunities. The only thing is that all my assets are at risk for the November 20th retest. But that's the chance I take. I think my GE stock may pay close to 10% this time around and that yield is good forever until I liquidate my positions. Slow and steady gets you the reward especially when the explosion finally arrives.

Let's talk about interest you pay on credit cards, personal loans etc. Big Buddy!!:D It was done before and can be done now to stimulate the economy. I remember being elated that I could deduct the interest that I paid on a personal loan when rates were high!

I misunderstood your comment - certainly a tax deductable interest rate would be beneficial but that is only allowable via a home equity loan or a home mortgage. But yes I'd be highly in favor of interest rate deductions and let's make it retroactive for 2008. But liberals don't like to give away the ranch - their constituency need those funds to eat.

My condolences on the computer problems. I hate Vista passionately. Have had problems with it almost weekly since I got my new computer last March. Uncle Bill Gates has announced he is abandoning the OS. Doesn't help those of us who were strong-armed into buying computers with that OS already installed. Microsoft rules the world.

Kroil worked great finally broke converter loose , I am going to go ahead and have my engine builder mag- flux heads and make sure no cracks , he said drop them off today and he would check them over, and I will help grind valves while he recuts valve seats, and check guides , this gives me time to clean intake and throttle body. I need a new filter for my safety clean parts cleaner sink, Hmmm might have to look online and see if I can find the parts I am looking for , Renters moved in last friday, now I can finally get back into my cars ,and cutting trees for my parents, at least I have sold a few ricks:D, extra $ in my left pocket:laugh:
