Market Index help...

Most (if not all) Federal Government employees, through an arrangement between Microsoft and your specific employment agency, are eligible to order a licensed copy of the select Microsoft Office desktop programs (which happens to include MSOXP :) ) you use at work to install and use on a home computer, for a VERY minimal fee & shipment. I recommend you check your agency/unit homepage and representatives for the link to the access/pin authorization code and information.

Man we ought to chip in a get you the program, what you've done for the board is priceless.

Are you guys using the spreadsheet that was posted in the Tatools thread a while back? I would love to try it out but I don't have Exel. I'm using OpenOffice(freeware).

350z, there have been a few spreadsheets. Which one are you referring to? Also, do you use Windows or another OS?

Nope, I'm doing it the old way. I would like to automate it.

I would recommend to anybody to get Excel and make queries and macros to simplify your investing.....its like hiring 1000 people to work for you.....its definitely worth the time and money spent.

I wrote my routines in just a day or so and its been great....love the fact that I can at any moment see the atittude of the I fund for the day......it really helps out making decisions for the next day one day ahead....so spend the time and money.

I wish I had thought to email it from work... :/ Ill drop it on the boards when I get back on Tuesday so everyone can get a look at it.

Thanks for the links! I looked today everywhere but couldnt find them. I will post my automated I fund tracker on Tuesday when I get back to work... Right now its about an 80% solution, but if its worthwhile then maybe you can save a few minutes a day. (FWIW: It is done in Excel and uses a macro. I dont think that OpenOffice can use macros.)

That would be great. I'll have to go find my Excel 2000 and load it.

I am trying to build a spreadsheet that tracks I fund price throughout the day. The TSP website gives the breakdown of each country by %age as it relates to the EAFE index. However, I have not been able to find the appropriate symbol to track for Ireland, Greece, or Portugal. Can anyone help me with these please?

(This spreadsheet is pretty nifty IMHO. It queries the yahoo finance webpages for the appropriate tickers and then downloads the %age changes of the trade day so far. Then using the contributions of each country to the EAFE, calculates an I fund % change. The $ index will be incorporated next, but I think thats simply hand jamming it from the INO website. Anyone got something like this working yet?)

I do Chemmie....been using it since late last year....push one button and presto, it goes gets the INO $ value, it then gets indexs from the top 11 countries down to HangSeng which contributes 1.6% (I use the small index quotes), calculates their contribution and then weighs in the $ value from its value from the previous noon value.....then comes the I fund present price, works like a charm....close enough to get a good idea of whats happening....could get closer if I used more indexs but being that I'm within one penny most of the time, I deem that good enough....you'll love it.....

Here use this address for the top 11 indexs..
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/cq?d=v1&...PI,^FCHI,^GDAXI,^MIBTEL,^AEX,^SMSI,^SSMI,^HSI

Download them with a query....I calculate the value of each index by % contribution, them sum them and then I divide them by 100...

Then use this address for the INO....
http://quotes.ino.com/chart/?s=NYBOT_DX
U could probably just use the main ino address for the usd listing, but sometimes I like to look at the plot...

I'm sure you already know how to calculate the dollar value change ....if you don't let me know...

I wondered if 350z is doing automation.....he seems to mention from time to time that its alot of work and it takes him some time to settle on a present price....
