My spouse just atended a community college class entitiled "Making the most of Social Security". It cost her $23. It was sponsored by a local "estate planner" Name available on request as I don't wan't to get in trouble here.
She came back with "there are so many thing we are doing wrong". After discussing the specifics, we know what we are doing wrong and are working to correct these things. Mostly old IRAs and amounts in savings accounts. The presenter did state when asked that TSP was an annuity. Maybe, if you choose it. He did not appear to know anything about TSP. He also did not appear to know much about Social Security benefits.
I am wondering why she had to pay for a county sponsored class that answered no questions about the subject and led to going to a seminar sponsored by the presenter and his company.
Bottom line-I am not doing a good job with the money and the presenter can get somewhere under 8% if we give him our money. Sponsored by Maricopa County, Arizona.
Life as usual.
