I lived in Champaign/Urbana for two years. It does get downright cold. Not unheard of 0 degree day's. :(

The Town and surroundings where Beautiful though and people where patient and courteous.

I'm thrilled for you Joy Lynn and you've got a beautiful home. It sounds like you had the best of many worlds --- warmth and sunshine when a lot of the country is having blizzards and all the more being in G Fund during a very BAD week.

Well I'm going to try to limit my posts more --- I think I've talked way too much -- so welcome back and GL next week.

Oh how I wish I had a home in Ft. Lauderdale. I am visiting a friend from my college days. Boo Hoo I have to go back to Illinois where I received a text message from earlier about snow...grrrrrr. I do have a beautiful home I am going to sell. Wanna make an offer?

Yes, back to Illinois... Southern Illinois. People in the south are like they are in in the champaign Urbana area. A lot of farm people, real country.

Oh how I wish I had a home in Ft. Lauderdale. I am visiting a friend who had sense enough to move here years ago. Where was my mind??? I could have been a professional beach chair rental person, become a manicurist or something fun. I will be returing to Illinois in the morning. I am going to be cold. Gripe, gripe nag, nag, nag. My house in Illinois will be going up for sale though and it is lovely. Wanna make an offer?

Wow there is a city I haven't thought about for years. I was in tech school at Chanute AFB (70/71), just outside Rantoul, IL (a real armpit of a place). Champaign was down the road a bit.

Champaign Urbana area -- is where I go to the movies and do most of our shopping. It's where we have taken in Internationals over the years from the U of I.

I'm west of that area -- out in the country with a lot of farm people and have never found a better people than these 'real country' as you call them. Were I live is pretty flat.

Southern IL -- has more hills and rolling beauty.

My house in Illinois will be going up for sale though and it is lovely. Wanna make an offer?

Well I don't know ... ... I'm sure it would have your 'feel and vibes' but they'd disappear :( and it wouldn't be the same.

Well -- would you consider $350,000 ? ;)

I worked on the Base -- doing Occupational Health for various companies in that area and Family Practice type stuff.

Oh I remember Chanute AFB. My Mother would go to the commissary for our food.

My Father was the Commander of CERL from 1983 - 1986.

I loved the area.

Joy Lynn,
I'm probably reading way more into this than you're expressing and if I am then just disregard this. The fact is some 'Posts' stand out and I wake up in the middle of the night deeply reflecting on them.

You're a big girl now Joy Lynn, and retired, and can probably go anywhere you want. Ft. Lauderdale probably has this enormous appeal because it is Warm -- and a Wonderful change. But living there would probably take 99% of the thill away ... it would soon be the same ole ....same ole.

You have a home in the country -- with real 'country folks' and deep down that is very hard to beat.

could have been ... something fun. I guess this is ultimately what Stood out the Most -- and you're so new this is awkward.

I've got the best family imaginable and a wonderful home and a really wonderful life. So PLEASE know that I am not saying this to come on to you ~ and I'm not 'looking' and I'm not 'interested'. I honestly come here to take a break from everything else and that's why I am so free and whatever ...

But you are 'amazingly FUN' -- and it's not what you did or could have done -- it's who you are and how you're made. I've been on this site for years and it's very rare someone comes along as 'Real' as you and is so openly FUN. So be glad for who you are.

Well anyway -- I hope you made it back safe -- cause I know we in IL have had the Winter Storms for 3 days now. Also I hope your house does sell -- and the chances of that happening are much better once the weather warms up.

OK -- I've probably just made a huge idiot out of myself but at least if post comes to mind in the middle of the night -- I can ignore it.

Thanks for listening and welcome back.

Steady

I live farther south than Champaign or Rantoul. I live in SOUTHERN Illinois. That is almost the South of Southern Illinois. This would be just one county north of the Southern Seven, Williamson County. My house would sell for that much in some areas though not in my market. The sell value is more like 249. I built it in 2008 and it has geo-thermal heat, 10 and 12 ft ceilings throughout, carpet and marlble floors...... 2 car garage with an additional 1 car detached.

Your house sounds absolutely beautiful !!

I'm glad my suggested offer of 350 was not insulting... but I was just being hugely 'spontaneous' -- and 'crazy as usual' -- and simply 'making an offer .... cause you asked if I wanted to'...

You'll find I'm pretty silly most of the time :embarrest: but I mean well.

I can definately relate to the house selling for a lot more in other Markets.. and sometimes I kind of wish my home was 'There' just to get that kind of money :). The highest price I've been guaranteed so far is several million.

Geo - thermal is a HUGE selling feature and that will help sell the place very well. 250 is also a price most can realistically consider and all the more with what you're describing --- so I all the more hope you don't have any problems selling.

Well -- I love my house and the yard and location and haven't found a place I'd rather have. I am very fortunate it was available when I came to this area.

Down the line ... once the kids are out of college ...and I retire; I might go to Oregon and buy Uptrend's house :D

I think I'd really enjoy the Pacific North West and could see that area as the ultimate destination. Also part of me thinks it would be fun to say, 'Hey Uptrend, what are you doing in my house'

You may say I'm a Dreamer .... la la la la la

RRRRRRRR so funny. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I have been studying. Moved my C fund to the G fund today. I only had 20% in though that was a big deal for me. I made money though!! Yipee!!
Joy Lynn

Today I have moved out of the C fund and back into the G fund. I feel safer right now doing so. I may be too cautious though I believe there has not been enough stability in the market. Housing this spring is going to be a big issue and this is not being addressed.

Cautious is fine as long as you pull out with a profit. :) I have to hold on for now because if I pull out I will take a loss (due to when I jumped in).:embarrest:

If I may be so bold ;) --- there is no way anyone could possibly feel safer -- than being in G Fund.

Had the ones who made the greatest gains by far -- mostly stayed in G Fund -- they would have Nothing in comparison. There are some on this Site that made over 50% -- over 60% -- and even over 70% respectively as noted by their 12 month TSP assessment. I know that seems 'Impossible' but they did it by staying mostly in High Risk.

For now being 'cautious' is good --- the Makets flew at like a record breaking pace from 3/09 to 12/09 and have largely been in 'Correction Mode' ever since. But we should be ending the Correction fairly soon -- yet I'm hoping for one more decent drop before it's all over.

If -- and this is the biggest 'if' ever -- but if the Markets go back up and continue to go back up -- exceeding their highs of several months prior -- then STAYING IN -- will get you thousands and thousands more money than staying in G.

Feeling 'Victorious' is way better than feeling 'Safe'.

Housing has largely been 'ruined' -- temporarily -- and the ones responsible I believe are way worse than Hugo (or just as bad). But to some degree Things are getting better -- and the ones that can afford to buy your place have more than enough for what you've got and how much your asking. Few look for places in the Dead of Winter so ... I'm still hoping for the best.

Well I should have been gone hours ago .... so good night all.

I am finally on the AutoTracker. ;) This is wonderful!!!

I have to go study now.....blech!

I am too old and frumpy to study.:embarrest:
