J.C. Penney to start Black Friday at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving day
J.C. Penney Co. Inc. announced its holiday strategy on Thursday, with plans to open its doors for Black Friday starting at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving day and remaining open until 10 p.m. the following day. Stores will then re-open at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Black Friday deals will launch online on Sunday, November 18, with the full Black Friday sale heading online that Wednesday. And holiday marketing will begin on November 4. J.C. Penney joins Target Corp. and Walmart Inc. in announcing plans for the holiday shopping season. J.C. Penney shares have fallen 52.5% for the year to date while the S&P 500 index is up 2.3% for the period.
